“There are some people that want to retire, there are some people that I will tell them they want to retire, and there are some people who want to stay and won’t,” the mayor said during recent meeting, sources told The Post.

He added that he’d like to see a turnover in perhaps 15 of the 40 commissioner positions.

Since seven agencies have had changes at the top in recent months and three — Fire, Probation and Environmental Protection — have or will have openings, that would leave five commissioners who had better start thinking about new careers.

Bloomberg didn’t identify any of the underperformers by name.

It’s the first time the mayor has publicly acknowledged that a significant number of his appointees aren’t making the grade.
“It’s not something being talked about,” said a City Hall source.

With rare exceptions the mayor has left in place the people he’s hired.
But Bloomberg said he’s intent on not repeating the errors of his predecessors who served third terms, Fiorello La Guardia, Robert Wagner and Ed Koch.

“I think the mistake they all made was keeping the same commissioners and doing the same thing,” said the mayor.

Most speculation among insiders isn’t about who might get axed, but who might leave on their own after eight intense years.

The consensus is that the biggest loss would be superstar Budget Director Mark Page, a 31-year government veteran and one of the mayor’s most influential aides.

“He’s starting to look like Lincoln during the Civil War,” said a Page friend, referring to the constant stress facing the mayor’s budget chief.

I would vote for the DOT commissioner who’s on top of the Trafic ticket agents to be shown the door 1st.

    Mr Mayor,
You had 2 full terms to clean up ur act.
All you did was raise taxed ticket us and raise all kids of fees for services so that the city was able to hire these under performing commissioners and bribe taking DOB officials.
Move aside and resign. And let’s get our city back.
    Thanks.

Bloomberg should retire. Enough already with the tickets. Thompson is not too good either but at least he wont give so many tickets.

1st to go will be Homeless services Commisioner, Hess. The mayor was reelected with a five year plan, which bombed. If anyone goes he’s the one.

If anybody thinks Bloomberg has been acting like a dictator until now just wait and see what another term of Bloomberg will bring. Since he doesn’t owe anybody anything and a 3rd term he wont even owe the voters because he will not run again. His arrogance and ego makes him feel as if he owns NY and the people are his to do whatever he wants them to do. I have a very close friend on his inside staff who says that he is an impossible tyrant and irrational at times. We live in America we do not want a dictatorship, somebody who plays the system like he owns it, spits in the peoples face when they voted twice for term limits, induces City Council to do his bidding and overturn the people’s choice and of course our city council will do his bidding for MONEY and POWER (doesn’t make them bad people but is the nature of an elected official). After 2 terms he decides that 15 out of 40 commissioners need to go..Interesting.

Bill Thompson’s history has been known to us for the past 30 plus years with Bloomberg spending over 60 Million he has not found much to go after him…
We need to give somebody else a chance and get rid of a dictator who has only MIKE BLOOMBERG on his agenda. It was a good move bringing Giuliani with him to Boro Park today but Bloomberg on his own has hurt us enough by almost doubling our real estate taxes in 8 years almost doubling our water and sewer charges over the last 8 years and let’s not forget the traffic and sanitation summonses we are being hit with..WE DON’T NEED A DICTATOR…LET’S THROW HIM OFF HIS THRONE.

Bloomberg was excellent today at the Boro Park Jewish Community Council breakfast and felder presented the best reasons why we need to vote for Bloomberg. Guliani did a excellent job as well.
