Brooklyn, NY - Thompson Pledges to Bring Back Auto-Ticket “common sense” Across City |
|
Brooklyn, NY - Mayoral hopeful Bill Thompson pledged on the Dov Hikind radio show last night to have a complete overhaul at the currant administrations parking violations policy.
Appearing on the Saturday-night show of the State Assemblyman who just endorsed him, Thompson nodded heartily in agreement as Hikind lamented the ridiculous “zero tolerance” auto ticket policy of the Bloomberg administration which gouges struggling New Yorkers for cash they need to “put food on the table.”
Pressed by Hikind whether he’d commit to take “complete look at… enforcement rather than raising money” regarding the city’s ticketing policy, Thompson replied: “That’s the one thing it needs to be about… also, to bring back something that’s been missing for a while: common sense.”

U gotta be naïve to believe him. Too much money to give up. My feeling is that Bloomberg is going to be mayor for as long as he wants. Hopefully he'll decide to seek another office and leave on his own. Truth is, we may not be happy with him but most of NY is. He manages the city as though it was a biz and he's doing a good job on that front.

I'm against Bloomberg for the simple reason that term limits were implemented as a mandate from the NYC constituents on all legislators. Yet, he has the gall to change that just for himself. Why not include all legislators in the same swipe?
Thompson, I'm a BP'er and you have my vote.

Bloomberg has proven himself to make the life of the average citizen unbearable:
ticket blitz
RE tax increase
Water bill increase
East river toll
he doesnt give a crap that WE said it before and we will say it in this upcomming election "term limits"
its just shows how low Bloomberg is:
with all the record breaking spending he's just a couple of points ahead of Thompson.
The people dont even need an apponent to Bloomberg...give me dinkins and I'll consider voting for him. Let alone such a polished guy as Thompson.

there was never "common sense" when dealing with the traffic nazis, has it gotten worse yes, would any other mayor change that most likely no, its a major income for the city to pay its bills.as well if u dont like bloomberg, keep in mind that he doesnt take a salary, he gets paid one dollar a year. so automaticly by him being mayor the city is saving.

Thompson a liberal? Bloomberg has been by far more a supported of liberal cuases. He's a Democrat turned Republican turned Independent. Doing just what he needs to win votes.
He's been there for 8 years and he needs to spend 100 million to win again? Why isn't his record sufficient? Why isn't he leading by a landslide? Becuase NYers don't really want him. He's using fear to get us not to vote for an "unknown".
Besides in reality he's spend much more than 100million. That was his money. How about the millions he used of our money. The millions in raises to major unions in his 8th term - raises that he refused every year earlier - just to get votes. Who is counting those 100's of millions?

Typical Bloomberg fan:
Doesn't care for what the voters stand for.
Enough is enough with the "king".
I'm all for enforcement but when these traffic cops come "running" and ticket you while unloading passengers on 13 ave. I don't care if you tell me its illegal there are many stupid thing that are illegal that they don't enforce.
Bloomberg will be shocked out of his box when he sees all of us go out en mass and vote for his opponent.

That's how they do it in Iran and Afghanistan, they decide who is the better candidate, and make sure their candidate wins even if it means rigging the peoples will. What is the difference between Ahmadinejad rigging the election, to emperor Nerva (Bloomberg) buying the throne and putting the will of the people on term limits to shreds?
By putting the carpetbagger Clinton in office and now Bloomberg, we are sending out a loud and clear message, that we are STUPID, and that we don’t deserve democracy.
Who is it who said “a democracy if you can keep it”!

personally I feel that fines for illegal parking should be higher. The city should also offer unbiased traffic court judges, and fine traffic agents the same as the public when they issue bogus tickets.

Well it was ticketing day in Boro Park today. On 38th street i noticed one of the maids rip a bag off a broken meter. When i commented, ready to photograph her, she said something under her breath and then that she wasn't ticketing. Well, 10 minutes later upon return, there was a ticket in the windshield. It wasn't my car, Boruch Hashem but i felt bad for the person anyway. This maid kept on going up and down the block waiting for meter to expire and"catch someone".
Whatever the case is, i won't be voting for Bloomberg. I'll be voting against him, which means i may choose someone else running.
So, even if your not for both, vote for the other person on the ticket, whoever it may be which strikes a vote against.
When the Bloomerg recruiters rang my bell , i let them know exactly what i feel about him.
We should take a lesson with what happened when some presidents who were good the first term, did us in on the second term. And now it looks like it's a Purim charade all year.

Parking tickets are simply a way of raising taxes that can be legally avoided by careful vigilance. The trouble is that there is no way of proving that falsely issued tickets are incorrect. Now that the NYPD uses electronic devices to issue the tickets, there is no longer any way to fight them based on careless issuance by officers. There should be mandatory court appearances by the issuing officers, just like traffic violations, in the case of a dispute.
