The company said in a press release that “even though there were only several complaints, Fox decided to take them into account since the clothing company appeals to the general public and all sectors of society.”

Fox invested hundreds of thousands of shekels in the giant billboard that was up in the Ayalon highway in Tel Aviv.

The billboard that was taken down on Monday showed pictures of model Bar Refaeli and Israeli ‘Survivor’ reality star Noam Tor laying in bed side by side wearing minimal clothing.

Fox decided to replace the billboard with more modest pictures of the two stars, where Refaeli and Tor wear winter clothing.

Even though Fox’s press release did not specify who made the complaints, Haredi rabbis have recently protested against the advertisement and called for a Haredi boycott of Fox clothing.

Rabbi Mordechai Bloi, chairman of the Haredi group Guardians of Sanctity and Education condemned the provocative billboard.

“Whether people wish to see this or not is a personal choice, and we don’t tell people what to do in the privacy of their home. But they cannot be permitted to poison the public environment,” Bloi said.

Fox has a big Haredi clientele and a large store in the religious community of Bnei Brak, and would have stood to lose from a boycott.

It’s actually a pretty easy decision for the company.
On the one hand, some Hareidim care, and might take their business elewhere (the stores carry children’s clothes, for example).

On the other hand, the average nonhareidi could not care less if the billboard is taken down. Most folks don’t even notice the billboards, and even if we do, we could not care less about what (or who) is pictured on them.

This isn’t the first time this has happened… these people need to do better market research if they’re really trying to reach out to the Haredi market. If they really care about what Haredim think of them they’re doing very bad things to their public image.

Just curious. In hilchos yichud, during the day there is no issur if it is 1 woman and 2 men. If the men are prutzim, then there is an issur yichud. What makes someone a porutz is a discussion among the rishonim and acharonim. According to the maikel shita, which is the Shevet Halevi in chelek 5 siman 100, would someone who drives by this billboard everday be a porutz? Should it be any different than someone who usually watches tv, which would be a porutz?

Its amazing how people here are ok with the craziest shmutz , In boro park or willy this stuff would be sprayed up right away , . Can I ask a question , some of you go to isreal to visit etc. For what? To go see the models on the billboards , or to sample isreali cuisine or their fine wines . If all of us would at least protest such immoral behavior of these company’s they would’nt put it up . But, lieder you are all sucked up in this immoral world of shmutz , that you don’t even see a problem with this farshtinkene model posing on the billboard, yes there are people that try to keep this crap away from themselfs and children and you shameless bums make it a crime to protest ,on another post some came up with this brilliant thing that this filth of a model will be offended and she will not become a baal teshuvah , I don’t know which yeshivas you guys were raised in .for shame!
