Agents at a warehouse in Dearborn were trying to arrest Luqman Ameen Abdullah, 53, on charges that included conspiracy to sell stolen goods and illegal possession and sale of firearms. Abdullah and 10 others were listed in a criminal complaint, but it was not immediately clear how many were in custody.

He refused to surrender, fired a weapon and was killed by gunfire from agents, FBI spokeswoman Sandra Berchtold said.

In a court filing, the FBI said Abdullah, also known as Christopher Thomas, was an imam, or prayer leader, of a radical group whose primary mission is to establish an Islamic state within the United States.

“He regularly preaches anti-government and anti-law enforcement rhetoric,” FBI agent Gary Leone said in an affidavit. “Abdullah and his followers have trained regularly in the use of firearms, and continue to train in martial arts and sword fighting.”

Leone said members of the national group mostly are black and some converted to Islam while in prisons across the United States.

“Abdullah preaches that every Muslim should have a weapon, and should not be scared to use their weapon when needed,” Leone wrote.

The group believes that a separate Islamic state in the U.S. would be controlled by Jamil Abdullah Al-Amin, formerly known as H. Rapp Brown, who is serving a life sentence in a federal prison in Colorado for shooting two police officers in Georgia in 2000, Leone said.

Imad Hamad, regional director of the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee in Dearborn, said he was briefed by the FBI and told the raids were the result of a two-year investigation.

“We know that this is not something to be projected as something against Muslims,” Hamad said.

An FBI dog was also killed during the shootout, the U.S. attorney’s office said.

Not to sound cynical, but it was only a matter of time. The last of my family moved out of Dearborn years ago. It’s just not safe, for several reasons.

the sad & scary thing is that this guy will now be considered a martyr for their cause. I would not want to be an FBI agent right now.

US prisons are the biggest training ground for terrorists. What can be done to stop that?

Congratulations to the FBI. One less terrorist in the world is certainly something to celebrate. Perhaps, to honor the brave canine, they should bury this piece of filth under whatever tree the FBI dogs like to relieve themselves under. There would be some poetic justice there, don’t you think?

The NY Times didn’t feel it was a newsworthy iten until 8:32 PM, two hours after it appeared on VIN. AND THEN, it was only 11 lines buried in AP news briefs. The longer story came out an hour leater at 9:46 PM.

    among the revelations:
“A 45-page complaint says that Mr. Abdullah trained his followers in the use of firearms, martial arts and sword fighting, and that he directed them to conduct an “offensive jihad” against the United States government and law enforcement.”
    and:
“Federal authorities spent three years investigating the faction in Detroit, according to the complaint. During that time, Mr. Abdullah told informants that “America must fall” and that if the police ever tried to apprehend him, he would “just strap a bomb on and blow up everybody.” To obtain bulletproof vests for protection, he told followers, they should “shoot a cop in the head, and take their vest,” the complaint states.”
    and:
    “NO TERRORIST CHARGES WERE FILED!!!!!”

Got that? This wasn’t terrorism, it was like the guys that rob your local convenience store because they need money for beer. (I know Moslems don’t drink alcohol) When Homeland security becaomes politically correct we have major problems.
And BTW my condolences to the dog’s officer, handler, and next of kin.

I would PROUDLY wear a shirt that had “Infidel” *or* “Kuffar* on it. I don’t give a rat’s ass what a Muslim thinks of me. Go live in the Middle-East, you jackasses–stop POLLUTING the country MY DAD fought in 3 wars to keep FREE from idiots like you. As far as I’m concerned, Muhammed was a CHILD MOLESTER (do your research)..and all religion is mind control…you just have to weed out the bullshit. I’d like to weed out all the damn Muslims from my land.

When will people, specifically liberals, wake up and realize this movement of creating an islamic state is a clear and present reality. They’re using the liberal system and principles to their advantage. If you don’t see it, you’re either blind or just plain stupid. If Obama and the rest of the liberals don’t get their heads out from thier donkeys, quickly, we will find this country being run by radical islamists.

For anyone familiar with Dearbornistan, all I can say is that this is a welcome start. Let’s hope that political correctness doesn’t interfere with getting the rest of this job finished.
