Cleveland, OH - Doctor Boycotts Egyptian Conference Over Treatment of Israeli Physicians |
|
Then he learned that two Israelis -- one a psychologist and the other a dermatologist -- faced political hurdles last month in an effort to attend a Susan G. Komen conference there.
"These were not Israeli militants coming for an exercise to Egypt," Blitz said. "These were Israeli doctors trying to work in the international arena to help women who are afflicted with breast cancer."
Blitz canceled his trip in protest, illustrating the local reach of international events and highlighting the close ties the Greater Cleveland community has with Israel.
"It's my own personal way of standing up for the way I feel," Blitz said, explaining that he and his wife had planned to visit for 10 days to help set up a heart transplant program and to travel.
The local and national offices of the Council on American-Islamic Relations declined to comment. The Embassy of Egypt in Washington D.C. did not respond to questions sent via e-mail early Monday.

There are so many Jewish doctors, it is statistically a very stupid thing to deny Israel in the medical field, a great percentage of the world's most prominent doctors are Jewish, there is more to lose considering that Jews have won 27% of the nobel prizes in medicine.
