Jerusalem - The Iranian arms ship seized by the Israel Defense Forces was discovered thanks to American activity, the London-based Arabic-language al-Sharq al-Awsat newspaper reported Friday, quoting Israeli sources.

On Thursday, IDF Chief of Staff Gabi Ashkenazi praised Mossad agents for helping obtain the intelligence which led to the vessel's capture.

According to the Arab report, the Americans spotted a suspicious Iranian ship entering the Gulf of Oman and docking at Dubai's Jebel Ali port in mid October. The boat belonged to Iran's national shipping company, IRISL.

The US reportedly informed Israel of the ship. According to the report, Israel suggested bombing the ship in the Red Sea, but the Americans rejected the idea.

Earlier this week it was reported that the Iranians had exerted great efforts in an attempt to mislead intelligence officials monitoring the shipment. One of the deceiving moves was to unload the explosives in an Egyptian port and load them on the Francop ship, which was eventually caught.

On Thursday, the Hezbollah organization denied any link to the arms ship and condemned the activity of "Israeli pirates operation in international waters." Syria and Iran also disassociated themselves from the vessel, claiming that the ship had been transporting goods from Syria to Iran and that Israel was disrupting international commerce activity.

Egyptian sources at the Damietta Port, the ship's last docking point, said Thursday that it had been loaded with food products and nothing else.

You said, "typical bnei yishmoel." Well, you're a typical bigoted frum Yid - -making an all-encompassing condemnation of a billion people. No, we're not prejudiced, are we??? I wonder how many Jews considering becoming more frum are turned off completely when they read sp amny of the remarks here. If I wasn't a middle-aged frum-from-birth Jew, I'd read the comments and think to myself, "these religious Jews must be the most ignorant, bigoted, reactionary, non-spiritual group on the face of the earth." Even with my background I find myself thinking that. We present a very unpleasant face to the world, hardly that of an am kodesh or a light unto the nations.

Correction. There may be one billion Moslems in the world but not all, in fact by far most, Moslems are not bnei Yishmael. Only Arabs are bnei Yishmael and there are far less than 1 billion Arabs.

I can tell you that what you said is true since, I know some you where frum from birth and not anymore for that very reason you mentioned. Many people do not know how to be proud of what they believe without looking down on others.

PS For all the Obama haters must be shocked or more likely do not believe that the US told Israel about this, since it does not fit into you thinking that Obama hates Israel

You of course did not address any of the issues raised by #2. Insults do not make a good argument. If the best you can do is "Go join Goldstone for Shabbos," you're a living refutation of the myth that all Jews are intelligent.

Dont let your brains fall out from being so open minded.... Paleeese give me a break!!!!
You know that by "Bnei Yishmael" he means all those terror seeking Muslims!!!
Not the arabs that might be peaceful trying to make a living.
unfurtunately the Terrorists are not a samll minority. When it comes to an anti Israel demonstration you can see 100,000's throughout the Arab world callg for Israel's destruction..

lately I noticed that many comments on VIN are not the way they used to be. No more sensible heimish responses. It seems as though some people from J street or from the "Uri latzedek" social action boys decided to comment here and try to "straighten" out the frum way of thinking... It is evident with the Rubashkin comments and lately it is becoming evident when it comes to Israel issues about the peace talks...
I mean real far left leaning comments bordering on anti Israel J street type . They throw in some yeshivish language but thats clearly a coverup...
Does anyone else realize this??
Please respond if you also realize this sickening trend.

Do you think they asked Obama for permission to tell the Israelis? (That is, assuming that this story from an Arab news service is even true)

The Torah says Yishmoel is "pere odom, yodo bakol veyad kol bo". So are you smarter than Hashem?
