Bransholme Hull, UK - 'Nazis Would Have Gassed You' Judge Tells Criminal Wearing Swastika |
|
Bransholme Hull, UK - Judge Roger Thorn lambasted Cockerline, 42, after hearing how he was often seen around Hull with the offending badge pinned to his beanie hat.
He was particularly angered by Cockerline’s decision to display it as he entered Hull Crown Court two days before Remembrance Sunday.
Judge Thorn, himself wearing a traditional poppy, told him: “You’re in enough trouble. It's a disgrace you were wearing a swastika badge on your hat at this time of Remembrance.
“Ironically, being a druggie and a weirdo, you would have been the first person that the Germans would have gassed!"
Cockerline, who has convictions for harassment and criminal damage, was appearing before Judge Thorn for a monthly probation review imposed for breaching court orders.
He remembered to take off his hat as he entered the courtroom, but was confronted after the judge learned of his habit of showing off the swastika during meetings with probation staff.
The judge asked him what it was all about. Cockerline, who was standing in the well of the court, took his hat out of his pocket and showed him the swastika.
He said he had been given it in a direct swap for a German beer glass.
Cockerline, of Bransholme, Hull, insisted he was not a racist.
He is on probation as an alternative to prison after twice breaching court orders. He is next due in court next week to answer an allegation by Humberside Probation Service that his “poor attitude” amounts to a further breach.
A barrister who was in court to see the confrontation said: “We could not believe it when the judge said 'Being a druggie and a weirdo, you would have been the first person that the Germans would have gassed'".
“But he is right, of course. Every generation should be taught the full meaning of the symbols and of the horrors of the Holocaust. We have troops abroad dying to defend freedom and this bloke turns up to court wearing a swastika.
“It’s not illegal, but it is insensitive. His ignorance about what he was saying in his own defence just aggravated the situation."

It's not true, though. The Nazis did not gas "druggies" or "weirdos". They did kill the mentally feeble, though, and someone who deliberately angers a judge who is reviewing his parole status may just fit that definition.

i have to agree with #5. it seems to me that this guy is such a 'psycho' (please excuse the phrase) that he probably would've been handed a gun in the nazi regime in order to do some form of dirty work.
