Ashkelon, Israel - Two youths were caught breaking into an Ashkelon synagogue, vandalizing and desecrating it, and preparing to steal money from the donation boxes and other valuable items.
They were caught by neighbors who were alerted by the loud noises coming from the synagogue.
The two were arrested and police on Sunday will ask for an extension of their remand.
Speaking to Arutz 7's Hebrew service, Ashkelon deputy police chief Haim Blumfeld said that while the youths had planned to steal items from the synagogue, "they decided to vandalize it for no reason."
