Israel - Elior Chen Indicted for Abuse of Eight Children |

The 20-page indictment details the severe abuse of eight children from a Jerusalem family. Despite the severity of his actions, he has not been charged with attempted murder.
The abuse left a three-year-old boy in a vegetative state. The indictment describes how Chen and his accomplices abused the child in an incident which took place during Hanukkah, 2007. Chen and his accomplices allegedly severely beat a three-year-old boy in his face. When the child fell to the floor, Chen and his accomplices picked him up, and continued to beat him harshly.
He then ordered the members of his group to force the boy to drink arrack and to jump up and down as the beat him, until he vomited. Later, Chen forced the boy to sit by the table for the entire night.
Chen and his followers also shook the toddler, holding him either by the back and shoulders, or by the arms and legs, leaving his head to shake back and forth powerfully.
The indictment further accuses Chen and his accomplices of tying the boy's hands and legs using cable ties and ropes for long hours, and would sometimes tie him to a plastic chair. While the boy was tied up, Chen and his followers would beat the boy in his head and his face to the point where his face would become swollen. In onc incident, they took a photograph of the child's face and would look at it and laugh.
According to the indictment, Chen and his followers would also beat the boy with a hammer and wooden stick with his hands. They would also burn the boy's fingers and other organs with a lighter.
And they didn't stop there. Chen and his accomplices tied the boy up with a rope, stuffed a skullcap in his mouth and sealed it off with tape. They then forced him into a suitcase, closed it and kept him there for an entire day without food or water.
They would also force the child's head under flowing water until he would suffocate, and hold him under cold water in the shower.
In January, 2008, they undressed the boy and made him stand outside on the house's balcony in the cold of the night, while they sat inside. Chen also ordered his followers to spill water on the child to cause him further suffering. He did not allow the child back in the house despite his screaming and crying.
In another incident, they took the boy to a mikveh in Beitar Illit and pushed him into the water several times. They also forced him to run until he passed out.
The group's cruelty knew no boundaries. On one incident they broke the boy's arm and prevented him from receiving medical treatment. They then forced him to use his broken arm, despite the pain. They also caused a severe burn on his foot using a heater. The defendant and his following did not allow the burn to be treated and forced to boy to wear shows which agitated the burn.
The worst incident took place in March 2008, after Chen said, "The boy must be silenced." One of his followers went to the room where the boy was sleeping and shook him and hit his head until he lost consciousness. As a result, the boy suffered irreversible brain damage and is in a vegetative state.
The indictment also describes severe abuse of the other children in Jerusalem; for example, an incident where Chen, along with other, hit the hands of a then eight-year-old girl with a hammer. Chen and his accomplices also used to hit the girl with a stick.
The indictment also describes how Chen and his accomplices forced a 13-year-old boy to feed his four-year-old brother excrement. When the teen refused, he was beat and told that if he did not obey, he would be fed excrement as well.
After hearing the shocking charges brought against his son, Chen's father, Yaakov said, "They are trying to frame Elior Chen, I can swear that he is a good boy. He is being persecuted because he is haredi. I believe in his innocents wholeheartedly. Elior Chen is a Charming, wonderful boy, I wish there was a child like this in every house in Israel."
Chen's mother, Vivian said, "Everyone has decided to dance on my son's blood. It's a done deal. God willing, my son will come out innocent."
His brother Assaf added, "I believe in the court. This was a media case that was blown way out of proportion. It will all come out in court; all the lies will come to light in court. I know my brother; he is a gentle soul, not capable of hurting a fly."
Speaking to Army Radio, his brother Ya'akov Chen said it "just cannot be" that his brother committed such offenses, and dismissed the existence of a cult.
"Cult-shmult, it's one big bluff," he said. "The whole thing has been made up."

I cant even read the article! I am sick! Why dont they take the entire group and beat them every day for 3 months. Then just put them in jail for life. None of them have any right to freedom! Why are all these ppl allowed to live with their children?

This is horrific! How this child lived through this is a miracle, but at what cost? Poor child. The agony & the terror he must have gone through. How can people do such things? Do they have the death penalty in Israel? If the child had died, he must be a candidate for this punishment, Jew or not. I don't buy being insane. This is inhuman brutality & a message has to be sent.

I'm usually not a person to blog my opinion but this is absolutely sickening. Why would somebody fabricate such a story. I believe that he has some major emotional/mental issues and he let out his anger / craziness / frustration on poor innocent souls. This story is the worst I've ever heard and I believe all of them should get severe punishments for doing this to an helpless child. My question is, how could it be that no neighbor / teacher or someone OUT THERE didn't notice the bruises or screams. Poor child and may he taka have a tikun for all of us.

I hope itis not true,if it is, I can't think of a punishment fitting for such crimes, it is almost like sending Nazi murderers to the gallows or jail, hanging Sadam, Or the hanging of Mousilini upside down. None of them were adequete punishment, here to nothing could replace a vegative innocent young neshoma, who suffered so badly before he could understand. How was a kid like that ever given a chance to be a normal non violent human being after such traumor? Hashem yerachem.
Now if it not true, those who could imagine & concoct & faulsify such redicule,also are in need of major phsycological help.
It is almost impossible for bnei Avraham Ainu Rachmonim bnei rachmonim to commit such crimes no matter how much he may have been abused as a kid.
I don't & no one should condemn the father & brother for covering up, we all side with our family, and as hard as we have to believe this is possible they have it a lot harder. Even if it is true & they know it, the shame they are going through the backlash on them will be out of proportion, and impossible to live with, denial at this stage is the easiest remedy, at some other stage it may be acceptance which won't come without guilty feelings.

If he wasn’t guilty why did he run? Anyone who can be violent (except in self-defense) with any other human being, especially a defenseless child has lost his or her humanity and does not deserve to be treated with any sort of dignity becoming a human being. Take this guy out and give him what he deserves I’d be glad to pull the chair out from underneath him

How could parents let it happen? That man DESERVES to be locked up....or worse. I wish i never read it , now I am going to have horrible dreams . Oh why, do these awful, awful things happen. There are so many crazy people around, what makes it seem a lot worse is that they are meant to be frum yidden.

If these charges are indeed correct , this animal should recieve every form of punishment possible - all that he did to others, should be done to him and his followers. I anticipate hearding the courts ruling and if these accusations will indeed be proven. If they are this animal should rot and suffer for all the remainding days of his excuse for a life.

Lets just get this straight. The courts are not saying this, the families that brought charges against him and filed complaints are saying this. This is what was "reported to the courts" by frum people who were convinced, conned and somehow brainwashed to believe him.
Why is it when Chareidim do stupid and hurtful things to their children everyone shouts "Chareidi hater". What is wrong with all of you? There are no sicko's in the Chareidi world? i keep mitzvot. in the street u may call me charedi but when things like this happen and i know that its true then believe me the guy with the beard and payot and ppl that deny that he did horrific things simply bc of his dress ARE NOT in my circle. just like baby killers that are protected in me'ah shi'arim disgust me... the benefit of the doubt is fine and dandy but once its known that he nearly killed this boy the benefit of doubt goes out the window because there is NO DOUBT. the parents, siblings, daycare assistants (all charedim btw) saw it, saw the results of it and lived with it for years. g-d forbid this on any1 u may know... but if it happened to u would u want ppl to say it didnt bc the guy wears a kippa? i know it happened and not bc of an article... all charedim arent all good ppl and all chilonim arent all bad... and even though the israeli gov isnt perfect its not all bad ...

he supposedly convince the parents, or at least the mom that they were doing a bad job... be "being the great rabbi that he is" said he'd help out... it gradually got worse until the kid (the youngest of 8 otherr abused children) got that last beating... the teachers from daycare were suspicious of the marks but they couldnt do anything without "knowing"... i used to live in the old city when this all came out over a yr ago.. my neighbors were friends with the kids....
i heard that its the parents who r pressing charges now... :(

yes, because stoning people to death, public lashings, and all of our punishments were only done by gerim... please be careful about how u speak of converts... its really inappropriate and not only is it a chilul hashem its against halacha... in judaism we are told to become a shochet if we desire to kill so u can release ur bestial desires without hurting people and makin a mitzva at the same time. weve won many wars and foght the fights along with g-d.. we are not a weak ppl, we are strong. it is true that we are not an evil people but know that neither are our gerim! although avraham had yitzhak he also had yishma'el and look who they have become!
both of my parents are 100% jewish but my friends who have converted are some of the sweetest , most compassionate , learned people i know!
we must beware of hurting a convert a widow and an orphan because they get junk like this thrown at them. oh yeah and because g-d said so...

Do you think the kids who endured all this pain and suffering are really going to stay frum when they get older. I've been threw bad times and i've seen quote on quote orthadox dressing people do some disturbing and discarceful things but to this extent this is going over board. This thing chen I dont even want to call him guy because I would be giving him credit by calling him human is a discrace to humanity let alone Frum yidden. As a geir (adopted at birth) myself, I can honestly tell you that may be the absolute most ridiculous, and dishonest display of ignorance and stupidity I have seen from a so-called "frum yid" in a long time. I must say, in all the ignorant garbage repeated on VIN from entertainers on the radio by people who just don't know any better, I have never been as disgusted by a post as I am this one. A frum yid who could possibly think the way you do for even one second... is no yid I ever want to be anywhere near, other than to have something to spit on.
