Shechem, Israel - An Israeli group said it will garner public support and organize a march to a West Bank town to re-establish a Jewish presence at the Joseph's Tomb compound.

The group's move follows security improvements that led to the army's removal of roadblocks to several West Bank towns, including at an entrance to Nablus, (Shechem, in Hebrew), the Jerusalem Post reported Thursday.

The group, Gar'in Shechem, is composed of residents of Judea and Samaria, including rabbis and settler leaders.

"It is already nine years since Joseph's Tomb was burned, plundered and abandoned. It's time to remove the shame," a Gar'in Shechem flier said.

"There is no longer a security hindrance. This is Israeli territory according to every law and we intend to return there at any cost, organizers said.

Israel withdrew from the tomb in Oct. 2000 after a gun battle in which six Arabs and Israeli Border Police Cpl. Madhat Yusef were killed, the Jerusalem Post said.

Crazy!!

Why is it crazy? Have you ever been to yosef's kever? Moishe went to great lengths to get yosef's bones out of mizrayim and they are in israel and it can't be reached? I visited the kever when the army had a base there watching over it, the yeshiva of od yosef Chaim learnt there and I tell you it was an experience to learn and be there over a shabbos. We have these things on our doorstep and we don't take advantage of the kedusha!!!!!!!!!! Chaval!!!!!

Lets not forget the martyr Hillel Lieberman, who also held US citizenship, was killed en route to the tomb. The father of seven was one of the founders and administrators of the Od Yosef Chai Yeshiva at Joseph's Tomb, and had wanted to pray there.

The "Palestinians" showed how they would care for Jewish religious sites were they in control. So this is what you want NK and supporters, right?

These west bank settlers seem determined to find every opportunity to throw gasoline on the fire and incite Palestinan riots. Yiddin should definitely have access to the tomb and the site should be restored but it should be done under government supervision and in coordination with the security forces.

That is wishful thinning that the government will do anything, it would be nice but never happen.

The only reason why Jews can now visit kaver rochel and meoras hamachpala is because of these "West bank settlers" aka devoted Jews to our land..
