    Can we do the chasuna like this too? It would surely save a lot of money.

    Reminds me of the guy in China who recently married his virtual girlfriend…

    This makes no sense whatsoever, and for those who think this will work, don’t try this at home.

    As long as it it distracts people from the real cause of the shidduch crisis, it’s approved.

    AGAIN – another attempt to stifle and prevent natural communication and interrelationships among human beings, as HaShem intended it to be. How should couples relate normally to each other, when they get marries if they can’t even meet normally? !

    Great idea! NExt they should incorporate 100 questions that should be answered by each party to see if they are emotionally, financially, Hashkofo wise and other wise compatible. Only then do they get to see each other over the webcam.

    I think this is a great idea at least for the initial meeting. Many young people who are from out of town can you this for the first meeting and see if it warrants the time and expense of a long distance trip. Kol Hakavod!

    The general comments evidence a lack of understanding of problem. This program was established because singles outside of the NY metropolitan area were often relegated to the bottom of the list of shidduch candidates because the time and expense involved in setting up a date.

    Converesly, it is extremely taxing to travel to NY everytime a shidduch is discussed.

    Most people feel it is in poor taste to set up a whirlwind tour of NY with % different dates in 2-3 days.

    The ability to covenietly set up initial meetings will benefit many out of town singles who are currently underserved or sidelined.

    While this was not the initial intent – it will be interesting to see if this concept catches on ig bochurim from lakewood will stop running to NYC or the surrounding areas — allowing them to save time and money

    Kudos to the people behind this project

    Just curious what happens when its a chassishe boy and girl that are seeing(for lack of a better word)each other. Given that first the parents meet (then the grandparents meet) then the future father in law meets the boy, then the future mother in law meets the girl and then they all meet, then the future chosson’s sister meets the girl, and THEN finally THEY (boy and girl) meet. Just curious if all these meetings are also by way of shidduch-vision or they actually meet. Btw I’m really having fun, and I’m all for giving it a try.

    This is appalling and contradictory to today’s frum community beliefs. Besides for the fact that internet “suddenly “now is allowed, there are several other factors that are wrong with this ShidduchVision picture. Up until the last bunch of years, calling the girl before the date was the norm- you were going out with her regardless, so it made sense to call right? But now its a no-no. Nobody calls beforehand (and if you do you’re looked at as different). So if this is so, then what is with this whole webcam business? If these days it is considered “not Tznius” to speak to the boy/girl before the date, then why is this new phenomena okay?? This is so not temimasdik- this is superficial and contradictory! Besides for the fact that you can no way in the world even compare talking to a screen to the wonders of face-to-face communication, this whole new idea just lacks so much real depth! The decision of whether to continue going out again or not is going to be based soley on if the guy/girl is physically attractive enough- it cannot possibly be based on anything else because everything else that there is to consider you cant figure out from talking to a machine. A cold machine

    this is a BRILLIANT idea im a 21 yr old guy and i think this is is incredible i wanted to institute something like this….but of course who would listen to a 21 yr old dating…..even though i am the one who deals with this on a day to day basis…….but my opinion accounts for nothing involving my life. has anyone spoken to the girls!??!!? noppppeeeee but if you did you would know that they HATE the shidduch dating process more than we do.

    stop complaining about the shidduch crisis….you people arent willing to do what is necessary to combat it….so stop talking about it. you are just adding to the problem. everything with frum jews becomes a crisis……just so all the bk yentas have something to kvetch about. in order to do what is necessary maybe it is time to start listening to the people actually dating, instead of trying to fix it from the outside. its like a person watching a tv (yes i said tv) that is broken and decides because he knows how to watch tv he can fix it. maybe actually talk to people that know what is going on?!?!?! noooooooooo that might come dangerously close to fixing the problem…..but why would people want that?!?!?! parents would lose their reason for their shallowness and their reason for not being able to marry off their children….they wouldnt actually want that.

    This is so clever. This is really a television mixed with internet in high definition and all the rabanim are being dooped. Smart marketing. All you have to do is change the name and rabanim dance and give their haskomos. You have to love the creativity coming out of Lakewood.

    Lakewood code words:
    TV= shiduch
    Internet= remote control
    computer= kosher internet
    Marketing= Rabanim
    allah mishigasin= Lakewood

    And what happens if they have a computer with Skype that is programmed only to see the potential shidduch.

    When anyone goes to check out a business they first go there themselves, subsequently they telecommute. Why should shidduch be the opposite?

    If this is the way the interview goes, i pity this bucher. He will never be accepted by the girl or her parents. Every time they ask him a question, he anwers “what do you want me to say??”

    I love the way he sells it as “all kosher, no internet access, chas v’sholom…blah..blah..blah, and toward the end (9min) whhile explaning the reservation process as to how you set your time, he clearly says “you go ON LINE and make a reservation, you reserve a time slot” Everyone knods their heads,
    and no one picks up on it

    Beyond its fundamental stupidity, this whole internet meeting meshugaas highlights the absurdity of not allowing frumme boys and girls to meet one another normally on a “date”. They are not going to have physical intimacy on such a date at a kosher restaurant or somthing like that or engage in any illicit activity….just talk a few times without the parents or some shadchan hanging around so they can determine whether they are compatible.

    What a bunch of dumb comments. you’re all missing the point the idea isn’t about not meeting a girl thru seeing her. none of the rabonim Aer against that in fact the gemora in kidushin 41a says you have to. the idea is that instead of a boy turning down a girl cuz of the distance he can date her 1 or 2 times with out cold traveling and then go see her. for goodness sake- read the idea article befor bashing it

    This will adversely effect the garment industry & the shoestores, now bochurim just need nice jackets, but since she doesnt see his pants & shoes, there’s gonna be a drop in sales.
