Jerusalem – Israeli police are considering charges against a Jewish settler filmed driving over a Palestinian who was lying wounded at a West Bank gas station following an incident in which the settler’s wife was stabbed.

After dramatic footage of last week’s events was aired by Israel’s Channel 2 television, a police spokesman said on Wednesday the Palestinian was also being investigated over the wounding of two women with a knife.
The 21-year-old was still in hospital after he was first shot by a soldier, then crushed by the heavy German sedan.
The driver, who was filmed reversing over the groaning man while Israeli soldiers stood by, was ordered not to leave his settlement while investigation of last Thursday’s events near the West Bank city of Hebron continued, the spokesman said.
The incident came at a period of tension between Israeli authorities, settlers and Palestinians following Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s order to freeze building on occupied land and Palestinian leaders’ rejection of that measure as insufficient to meet their conditions for resuming peace talks.
Palestinians in Hebron said the man accused of stabbing the two women was not a known member of any militant group.

I watched this 3 times and could not believe what I was seeing. They should just take this settler and lock him away for life now because he will not survive a day once this film clip gets wider coverage. I could sympathize with the settler, taken in consideration that this guy stabbed his wife, but somehow the settler needs to be charged and somehow he will have to pay the price, for his purposely running over the Arab.

So you think you can judge the man who just watched this arab stab his wife. The Arab got what was comming to him. If you run around stabbing innocent woman somone is gonna kill you and you DESERVE it.
Well, I think that this settler can plead insanity. He witnessed his wife being stabbed right before his eyes, he freaked out and ran the guy over.
Although we may get upset of seeing this violent footage, if we also had video footage of the woman’s horrific stabbing, we probably wouldn’t.
Western values don’t work in the jungle. So, to paraphrase Gold Meir, we can forgive the stabbing of the Jewish woman, but we are horrified that we have turned into fighters. However, that is the language that bullies understand: violence, not dialogue.

I am not weighing in on whether the settler’s actions were justified. I just find it interesting that Reuters uses passive voice here. Instead of the saying after the incident where the Arab stabbed the settler’s wife (active), the language is wife was stabbed.
The Muslim deserved his fate and the “settler” should be hailed a hero. When more people stand up to terrorism the Muslims will begin to fear us rather than us being held hostage to their deeds. Civilization cannot last without a harsh response to savagery.

Why is it that they are called “Settlers” ? This is land that belongs to us. We were given it by Hashem. In addition the Palestinians were given Jordan by the British in 1922 after the Balfour paper that they tried to distance themselves from. So the British in order to appease them gave them JORDAN, that is where over 50% of the population is Palestinian. Let them move there, they NEVER had a state in any shape or form! I saw the comments on Ynet yesterday, how they all condemed the Israeli justice system, about political correctiveness.
If this man had not done that to someone who attempted to kill his wife,and knowing the Israeli revolving door policy, a definate dangerous murderer on the loose. in the US atleast he would be a suspected acomplice.

It sickens me to see my brethren being so bigoted and violent toward the Palestinians. Indeed, it is true that some of them are terrorists and many of them hate Israelis. I enjoyed this video too. But since in a civilized country we don’t use the jungle law, this is a crime. It most probably is a crime of passion, and so if the arab would die it would not constitute murder, rather it would be manslaughter. In any case, he needs to be charged (which isn’t the same as convicted), and let a court of law decide. That is how the system should work.

As much as I sympathize with running over terrorists, Israel is a civilized country and we can’t ignore the rule of law. By the time he was run over, the terrorist was no longer a threat. This man broke the law and should be made to pay the price. Running someone over is illegal be he a terrorist or the gadol hador. Of course the facts of the circumstances should be taken into account for purposes of determining the right penalty. Personally, I think an hour and a half of jail time seems about right.

This Arab stabbed two WOMEN! You want one of their husbands to sit by and wait for a suicide belt to detonate, or more people are hurt? Perhaps you should work on the prosecution’s case against the “hateful settler”. The Arab isn’t dead, he is just going to think twice before stabbing Jews (G-d forbid). In all likelyhood, he would be released to a heroes welcome after 5 years in Israeli prison, learning a trade, English and Hebrew, and have a career in Palestinian politics. We all know in today’s sick politically correct society, up is down and down is up. Everything is twisted like in the times of Sdom & Amorah. The residents of these beautiful communities are in literal danger and for one of these pals. to come up and shoot or stab is OK to the world and here, the husband is expected to stand by after his wife has been stabbed. Normal, definitely not, except when it’s ‘topsy turvy’ world.
The video is sad, disturbing, and a little sickening. But if G-d forbid, someone were to do anything to hurt my wife or children, and I was in a position to do something, I have no doubt that I wouldn’t hesitate for a moment before running him over with my car.

The issue is not whether this is vigilantism or mob justice. The issue is whether a REASONABLE man (you learned about the reasonable standard in law school right?) in a similar situation would have acted differently.
