Aron Wieder, the school board’s vice president, was appointed to the $45,000-a-year post Monday by Mayor Noramie Jasmin.

Late last month, Wieder, along with several members of a board voting bloc representative of the Orthodox and Hasidic Jewish communities, were at the center of a community backlash after voting to fire Stephen Fromson, the district’s lawyer for the past 33 years.

Jasmin said she was not sure who held the administrative position prior to Wieder and that the post required someone who was “academically fit.”

“He will assist me in tackling some daily activities that are going on in the village,” she said, adding that Wieder would be a “floater” who would assist in several day-to-day activities in her office.

Jasmin would not comment on Wieder’s actions as vice president of the school board.

Aron, I know you and I would like to wish you hatzlacha and you should use your new position to continue helping your brothers in Monsey. In my position I’m B”H zoche every day to help people. Let me tell you, its the best feeling when I go to sleep every night that I know I helped a fellow Jew in need.

Keep up the good work and you should only make a kiddush hashem.

As long as academically fit is defined as someone with a pulse who can tie his shoes, then I agree, Weider is qualified.

The lack of intelligence and sophistication Weider has demonstrated is breathtaking, yet I was completely not surprised when I read this. Politics here have always been about who you know and what have you done for me (under the table) lately.

I have been an administrative assistant for many years and live in Spring Valley. I have a college degree, excellent references and would have loved this job paying 45k a year plus excellent benefits. Does Aaron have the skills I have? So many of my friends were recently downsized from excellent companies. I just don’t understand why Aaron was hired over us when we can do the job with our eyes closed.
