Israel - Rabbi Asks Jews to Rebuild Mosque Destroyed by Settlers |
|
Ashknazic Rabbi Menachem Froman (also spelled Fruman) is a remarkable religious peacemaker who defies all conventional descriptions and stereotypes, he vowed to help rebuild Israel - The chief rabbi of the Israeli settlement of Teqoam, which some Palestinians regard as illegal, condemned Jewish settlers for allegedly setting a mosque alight in the early morning hours of December 11. The mosque was located in the northern West Bank village of Yasouf.
Said Menachem Froman to local media, “This is just insanity, blasphemy, an insult to the Judaism before Islam.” “What [these] settlers did does not represent the settlers, nor Jews,” Froman added.
Rabbi Froman vowed that he would lead a large group of Israeli settlers to help the Palestinian village rebuild its mosque as penitence for “the crime that was committed by the settlers.”
Rabbi Shlomo Amar, who leads Israel Sephardic Jews, is expected to issue his own denunciation on Sunday, December 13, following the Jewish Sabbath. Fromer said. Rabbi Amar had intended to condemn the arson on Friday, but was apparently unable to do so by sundown Friday evening, the beginning of the Jewish Sabbath.
Rabbi Froman asked that his deep regret be expressed to Palestinians for the incident. The Jewish religion prohibits attacks on religious shrines, he added.

Regardless of what I think about what has happened, to call Rav (?) Fruman the Chief Rabbi of Tekoa is completely inaccurate. Most- if not all of the people in the settlement do not agree with him and his twisted ways of befriending Arab terrorists and he is not considered the Rav there.

her come the apologists who cave in to the emotions of killers! where were the arab leaders when the arabs blew up buses and pizzerias the last decade? where are the so called leaders of Gaza condemning the inhumane treatment of Gilad Shalit? of course, it's only the jews who have the urge to do it. well, maybe this has been the state of isreal's problem since it was created?

There is no excuse to torch a mosque. Where can I make a contribution to Rabbi Froman's effort?

The Rambam ruled the Muslims are not idolators but many other Poskim (ie Brisker Rav) have ruled that they are Gerei Toshav. It is an aveirah to destroy the place of prayer of Gerei Toshav and we must rebuild it and punish the offenders. That is the halacha.
We do not change the halacha to reflect the political views of our new "friends" the Evangelical Christians because we want them to give us more money.

But we are not them! That's what makes them so inhumane. We cannot let them destroy our humanity and decency. You're right, their leaders condone their vicious and horrific acts. Aren't you glad that ours don't? B"H those aren't the role models my kids have to emulate

"The Jewish religion prohibits attacks on religious shrines, he added."
Where is this prohibition to be found? And where did he find a heter for building a shrine to a false religion? The Rambam says we must suppress all false religions, if we are able to do so; is there a single rishon who says otherwise?

It sounds too pat. It reminds one of the other setups by the secret
agency in Israel that use provacateurs to commit these crimes so that the Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria can be blamed. How many times do they use this and think, no one will catch on. This game is constantly being used and most people in Israel realize it by now. They need to deligitimize the communities, any which way! There seems to be infiltrators (spies) living within some of the communities in order to cause these types of incidents on purpose. Seems the world is on the brink!

Actually, it would be no great loss if you were to leave EY along with all the other hateful and foolish yidden who believe that other religious facilites have no importance. The loss of an actively use Mosque has as much significance as the loss of shuls in Gush Katif and Gaza which were no longer in use after the settlers relocated elsewhere.

We are not living in a halachic society. We live in a chumrah society. Who are you to change the changers and the people that treat judiasm as a business and not a religion anymore?

“ i never knew that the rabbis ware shtreimels in the west bank; i thought it's only a Brooklyn thing ”
A Shreimel is not a "rabbi" garment, it is a chassidic one. and it is certainly not a Brooklyn garment, you can find Shtriemels in Monsey, Chicago, Boston, Los Angeles, Detroit, Miami, London, Manchester, Vienna, many Polish and Russian towns, Tel Aviv, Bnei Brak, Beitar Illit, Kiryat Sefer, Beit Shemesh, Arad, Netanya, Ashdod, Raanana, Rechovot, and not but not least Yerushalayim which is considered to be West Bank.
A chosid is defined as one who is connected to one Rebbe, those who consider themselves "generic chassidim" and have no one Rebbe whom they follow are just playing dress up

condamning the act is what the jewish representants should do... helping rebuilt them in any way... I don't think it's a good thing, helping repairing their mosque to wrongly pray G-d isn't something we should do

my Ruv says (I think he learnt that from the Nikolsburg Rebbe) that we are the Chosen People as long as we don't do what the others nations have done to us since we exist... they killed, spoiled, burnt... and if we do the same we are not longer special... we're just like them... so whoever destroyed this mosque, when I read comments like #18 "we should burn more mosques"... hum, I wanna say : have you become like those haters ?

This is apikorsus. We are special because Hashem chose us, and for no other reason. It has nothing to do with our behaviour. As for killing, spoiling, and burning, go learn some chumash and you will see that we are COMMANDED to do these to places of worship of avoda zara; so how can he say we are not allowed to do them to any place of worship? We are specifically commanded to do all those things, and then it says לא תעשון כן לה׳ אלקיכם; we are to do to them everything that we are forbidden to do to Hashem.
