Manhattan, NY – Madoff Brothers Can’t Find Jobs

    17

Bernie, Mark, and Andrew MadoffManhattan, NY – Like tens of thousands of New Yorkers, Andrew and Mark Madoff are out of work. It probably doesn’t help that their names — and resumes — are linked to the biggest Ponzi schemer of all time, their dad Bernie.

The brothers have been out of work since federal agents arrested their father, the Wall Street Journal reported.

Mark Madoff, who worked at Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC for more than 20 years, climbing up the ladder to director of proprietary trading, recently met with at least two Wall Street contacts to get their opinions on whether he could find another job in finance, sources to the Journal.

“He’s untouchable in any firm that deals with the public,” says someone who talked to the elder Madoff son, 45.

Andrew Madoff, 42, was director of trading when the New York securities firm collapsed. He has considered starting a firm involved in disaster recovery, sources said.

The brothers’ annual earnings ran as high as $5 million while working for their dad.

Some other former Madoff employees have also run into difficulties shaking the stigma of their former place of employment. Some have also found that a change of career is in order.

I’ll never get a job in finance, and I’m one of the lucky ones,” says Eleanor Squillari, Bernard Madoff’s assistant for many years. She told WSJ that she went to beauty school this summer and plans to look for work at a hair salon while selling her handmade jewelry.

They most certainly have millions hidden
away. Are we supposed to feel sorry for them?

its sad that two such highly educated and capable young men are tarnished by their father’s behavior. The yiddeshe community should set an example of forgiveness by helping them find a parnasah.

They didn’t apply for a job with me, I would take one of them on trial for $10.00 an hour gross.

The Torah states that all good comes to those that have kibud av va’em.
Yaakov avinu was punished with Yosef being lost to him due to his own not fulfilling the mitzvah of kibud horim. It’s not that he was malicious towards his parents, he just didn’t chap arein to be closer to them to be able to honor and respect them. (this being after he was in Yeshiva, and after having worked to get his wives..he didn’t rush back to be able to have the mitzvah of kibud horim…check out Rashi commentary)
whether they like it or not, the Madoff boys success does depend on kibud av.
its well known that they disowned their father.
(it might also be a good idea for them to use their wives maiden name in the search for employment 🙂

Since the highest form of Tzedakah is giving someone a job I suggest that anyone who feels sorry for the POOR Madoff children should invest their personal money with them. They are experience and know the ins and outs of investments,
