Attorney Jacob Laufer who is representing Mr. Silber released the following statement to VIN News:

We are grateful that the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office has done the right thing in dismissing the remaining charges against Zalman Silber, and ending a year and a half nightmare for him.

Mr. Silber has continuously maintained his innocence of these charges.

The charges were instigated by his disgruntled ex-wife, and resulted in charges filed against him in Rockland County and in Manhattan. In Rockland County, the D.A. dismissed the charges in September. The District Attorney’s Office explained that it would not go forward with his ex-wife’s accusations, because she was discredited as a witness.

The Manhattan case, which was case was brought, again, at Mr. Silber’s ex-wife’s instigation, relied upon ambiguous identifications by two out of four witnesses. The identifications – which drew heavily upon Mr. Silber’s appearance as an Orthodox Jew, an appearance that he shares with many thousands of other people – were obviously mistaken. One witness reported that the perpetrator had buck teeth, which Mr. Silber obviously did not have, and does not have. Another witness’ description of the perpetrator was of someone about 20 years older than Mr. Silber. In September, the Court in Manhattan determined that the District Attorney’s Office did not conduct a reasonably diligent investigation, which resulted in the dismissal of most of the Manhattan charges. The remaining charges in Manhattan have now thankfully been dismissed.

Mr. Silber has suffered horribly in his personal and professional relationships. He has been reviled and mocked in press accounts that wrongfully assumed his guilt. He has had a deserved reputation as a decent man, and as a benefactor to his community, which has been damaged by these unjust accusations. He looks forward to the restoration of his reputation.

Editors note: VIN News is publishing this story with the approval of Mr. Silber..

Unfortunately ,stuff like this happens all the time . Guilty in the media until proven innocent . It is very hard to prove innocence and most peoples lives remain a shambles forever

Let’s learn from this story “never ever to believe lashon hara”” no matter who is spreading it or how reliable it sounds.
It is very sad and heartbreaking to see what is going on today in the Frum community; people are prepared for the sake of revenge or any other personal motivation, to destroy their own communities, neighbors, friends & unfortunately even their own family. Yes as unbelievable as it sounds its true. Without going into details, I have had personal experience with this sort of nonsense. Because remember, GOSSIP ALWAYS STICKS. WITH GOSSIP THE JUICIER THE BETTER. PEOPLE LOVE GOSSIP AND THEY WILL ALWAYS BELIVE IT. YOU CAN NEVER UNDO GOSSIP, AS PEOPLE WILL ALWAYS SUSPECT THAT THERE IS SOME TRUTH TO IT.
Just say no to this destructive behavior.

I’m very happy for this man, even though I do not know him. What a shame that he suffered such embarrassment and damage to his reputation purely because of the vindictiveness of his ex wife.

I don’t know how to bring up all the comments that I wrote on VIN when this story was first posted, I repeated myself again & again at that time, that this story was simply fabricated by his ex in order to ruin his life, I’m so happy to read the end of this story & that this Marshas had a big Mapoleh, Velamalshinim Al Thehi Tikvah! I just hope Mr. Silver sues this Marshas for all the suffering she has caused him! and let this be a lesson never to believe what you read in the paper.

How does he explaon thhe video, the business card and his renting the office?
Prosecutor Amy Hare argued in court Monday that she had a strong case against Silber, Manhattan District Attorney’s Office spokeswoman Alicia Maxey-Greene said.

Hare told the justice that she had two female victims, videotape of Silber entering the doctor’s office on Park Avenue where Hare maintained he rented space, and testimony that Silber had a card calling himself a doctor and claimed he conducted lung transplants.

Hare also told the justice that based upon a technicality, she moved to dismiss the indictment.

Laufer said the case had been dropped on legal issues. He said he had a motion pending and the prosecutor acknowledged she could not prevail on the law.

Laufer also said he had a defensible case. He said two of the four women involved gave ambiguous identifications of Silber.

The identifications differed on his age and contrasted by drawing heavily upon Silber’s appearance as an Orthodox Jew.

If you are mekabel Loshon hora or Msh”r it doesn’t leave your system, had he not been vindicated, would also not prove his guilt. The Torah works differently.
Unfortunately us bloggers have a void to fill in our lives. Many have reason to be angry, & feel we have to blame others for our own shortcommings. We come here to find a victim to pour out our wrath, we villify him, we become witness judge & jury, and declare guilty without a trial, based on media & blogs.
The next day the court of the undressed bums in the mikvah at 11.00 allow an appeal, B4 decaring guilty again.
The poor victim isn’t present to present his defence nor is his attorney. The next day it is a fact, audio & video creeps like wildfire all over the internet, to the point that there is no escape.
Look at the amount of comments on the new scandle, & read them compared to the amount over here. For all us laymen know that may be the way to test sincerity of some types of converts,(based on their history) and is meant to be private even if true. No one has even alledged actions only talk, and he too may be vindicated.then there will be less than 20 comments.

I haven’t really been following the case closely, just by hearing people talk about the news. I came across this article and I am happy to read that he is found not guilty because I never believed the whole story. I hope people will now talk about the innocence because it was a Motzei Shem Rah and now we have a chance to fix it.

It should not have taken so long to determine the obvious B.S. that entailed with this accusation. It was obvious from the beginning. Over a year later he is deemed innocent and the case is dismissed! This false accusation should never have even been able to blow up into a court case.

It is awful-but the truth came out. You should not be shocked innocent people get framed all the time because of emotions, money and greed. Thankfully the truth was obvious with this case.
