Washington - Barry From D.C. - Obama Calls In Radio Station [video] |
|
Washington - President Obama – identified as “Barry From D.C.” – called into news station
WTOP’s “Ask The Governor” program this morning.
After identifying himself to Virginia Governor Tim Kaine (left), the president quipped that he had “some questions about traffic in Northern Virginia.”
“But rather than go there, I just wanted to say how proud we are of your service as Governor of the commonwealth of Virginia, and just wish you and your family all the best this Christmas season after just a terrific round of service for the people of Virginia,” the president said.
“Well, Mr. President, that means a lot,” Kaine replied. “As I think back about my four years as governor, I still think my happiest day as governor was in November of 2008 and the great work we did together across the nation and in Virginia was spectacular and I’m excited to continue to be in service, as they say.”
Kaine, who is also chairman of the Democratic National Committee, is term limited and is stepping down as governor in January after four years.
“We continue to think that your wife is probably a little superior to you, as I think people feel about the First Lady,” Obama said later in the call. “You and me have to stick together, since we’re married to better people.”

Wow what a great humble supreme leader we have. Why won't he call a conservative radio show to debate the merits of socialism VS capitalism?

Wow they are both fools. The gov or his party WAS FIRED by the smart voters of Virginia just like the voters will FIRE the members of the House & Senate that have voted for these rediculous bills. They are not paying attention to their bosses - the American people - who don't want govt involved in health care etc.
Vote the bums out!!!

What a President, looks like everything is good down there in Washington and there is no work to be done, that the president has time to make stupid phone calls to radio shows.
This is called real change!!!

The obvious response to this is why the president has time to call in to a radio station. But the better question is why he has to pull a cheap publicity stunt with the Virginia govenor when everyone will know that it's all a sham!!!

The story is a bit misrepresented. The president didnt identify himself as Barry from DC; the show producer referred to him as that to keep the surprise. it's cute though.

Virginia governors are prohibited from running for re-election by that state's constitution. Gov. Kaine has never lost an election.

Mr. President, get to know a little class. Drinking beer with the college police, which you embarrased, or calling in to talk shows, is great for college students and teenagers. Bush also knew how to have a sence of humor, but with class.

i really love his personality, but his policies are terrible,
a presidents service is not his personality, ONLY his policies do matter, & from that point McCain is much stronger,

Mr. Obama has too much time on his hands. He needs to get to work to create jobs for 99% of America's unemployed population and not worry so much about his agenda of climate, health (un)reform, etc.

I must admit that everyone is entitled to some down-time, and I think this was a nice move on the President's part, assuming it is genuine and not some political ploy, which I am not naive enough to rule out. I think it's in keeping with the Obama image of being one of the guys, et al.

for those who are bashing the president when he didnt make any major mistake, in fact he did deliver much more then his rivals thus far.
1) a promise from the auto manufactures to raise mpg,
2) changed the perception of the muslim world about the usa,
3) brought the economy back from the brink,
4) made the right decision on af-pak and did it with concesions,
5) is changing the use of energy to be from domestic sources,
6) strenthgent the relations with the world leaders,
7) dealt smartly and realisticly on climate change,
8) and now will have health care reform (which i will agree it didnt go far enough) yet he should get credit for breaking the will of congress to take it on end achive it before the end of his 1 year, which others couldnt do it in their 8 years.
so in total this president by all means has proved that he is an achiver and is tackling the challanges, problems, smartly, and therfore i am optimistic about him and his future, based on this trends.
so here is my analysis on the bashers you either have an: aganda, stupid, are in denial, or cant see or admit that your view in the first place was wrong, period.
so here is my mssg: its time to GROW UP.

bush took more vacations than any other president in history. he set a record more than quadruperling the days off anyone before him had and broke records for both a single term and a two term presidency.
obama will never be able to come close to his lazy oaf of a predecessor.

You missed the point. Regardless of his motives, his action was an action of Hakaras Hatov. Of course his motivation to look good, but he was correct in doing it. Reread my statement and study hashkafas on hakaras hatov, i.e. Moshe not hitting the water. You will then comprehend.
Once again i don't dislike "Barry" any less than before.

This President is really too much! Those of us who have work, work so hard and those of us who don't are so sad, and he spends his time making funny phony phone calls. Maybe he could spend his time sending out resumes for people who don't have work. Or having people send him their resumes and then try to find work for them. These suggestions might seem ridiculous, but are they any less ridiculous than him changing his name and making a phone call like this?
