Washington - Senate Democrats cleared the last 60-vote hurdle on U.S. President Barack Obama’s healthcare overhaul on Wednesday, virtually ensuring final passage of its version of the biggest health policy changes in four decades.

For a third straight day, Democrats mustered the 60 party-line votes needed to keep the healthcare bill on track for passage on Thursday over unified Republican opposition.
That will set up potentially tough negotiations to iron out differences with the House of Representatives, which approved its own version on November 7.

can someone compile a list of these Democratic senators who are up for re-election in 2010, so we can vote them out of office. And you might as well do 2011 also so we cleanse the senate of these guys.

The whole thing is a bluff. You excited people don't know what you are happy about.
You will be paying for your care and getting what the government, to whom you are but a number wants. They will decide if you are sick or not and when to see a doctor or not. But the hotshots who are telling you this is good will go to Mayo Clinic with their foreighn socialists do with your tax money. Before getting excited try getting a copy and reading cover to cover. Listen to talkshow hosts and you'll start thinking differently. Most senators who voted in favor did not even read this bill. The person in Washington claims he has his own insurance so it doesn't matter to him. Yet, he wants to run your life. Wake up and smell the coffee!

By "talk show hosts" I presume you mean right-wing fear mongers who make lots of money by taking advantage of their paranoid and bitter audiences. Shucks, I missed out on the education.

Keep up the scare tactics. They work on uneducated people, all right.
The US is NOT going to have anywhere near European health care. This bill will not make bigger government. It will make bigger profits for *private* insurance because it requires everyone to buy insurance. The thing that it does do is make it illegal for insurance to deny coverage based on pre-existing illness.
I don't think this is the smartest route. But it’s better than nothing. It’s better than allowing millions of people with no insurance options.
But the Australian system is a million times better than this bill. Over here we have BOTH options public or private.
Best of both worlds!!!!

I don’t see why the US can’t have a system similar to Australia. Australia has the best system in the world, according to my biased opinion.
Here we have BOTH public and private. You get to choose.
Just like there are public schools *and* private schools, and the public schools don’t take away the right of a parent to choose private, why can’t there be both public health AND private health, as it in Australia?
If you can afford private insurance of a few hundred dollars a month, fine. Great. But if you are in lower middle class income bracket and don’t qualify for medicaid, but also can’t afford insurance, why should you miss out on health care altogether?
If its possible to have BOTH public school AND private school, why can’t this principle apply to health care?
In Australia it works. Why can’t it work as well in the US? Why is this an either-or question? You can have BOTH! And it works fine.

If there is country on this earth where there are “boards” who decide if you’re sick or not, it is right in the US of A, buddy.
Every insurance in the US has “boards”, a whole team of staff, whose job it is to deny as many of their loyal customers payment when they get sick. They decide if your really sick. They decide if the treatment the doctor ordered is really necessary. And they will find any excuse to get out of paying. Speak to the millions of bankrupt INSURED Americans who became bankrupt because of medical bills despite having the best insurance. That how they make money; by declining as many claims and possible. They make money when they DON’T treat you.
And then you don’t have a backup plan. You are left on the street to die, as far as they concerned.
So all this talk about “boards” deciding if you merit treatment – they exist, buddy. But not in “socialised” medicine, as the insurance companies’ propaganda want you to believe. The “boards” are alive and well - in *capitalist* medicine.

Yes, Americans don't like what is going on. Here are the latest Research 2000 favorability ratings for President Obama and congress:
PRESIDENT OBAMA 54% favorable 42% unfavorable 4% undecided
PELOSI: 41% favorable 49% unfavorable 10% undecided
REID: 30% favorable 60% unfavorable 10% undecided
McCONNELL: 18% favorable 64% unfavorable 18% undecided
BOEHNER: 16% favorable 64% unfavorable 20% undecided
CONGRESSIONAL DEMS: 38% favorable 56% unfavorable 6% undecided
CONGRESSIONAL GOPS: 16% favorable 69% unfavorable 15% undecided
It is a good thing for the Republicans that there are a lot of gerrymandered districts or they'd be facing a total wipeout next fall.

This is not true. Bush's final approval rating in the last Gallup poll of his administration was 34%. Obama's approval rating in the same poll is currently 50%.

What are you smoking? Bush left office with a 29% final aggregate approval rating, the lowest in modern history. Obama's current aggregate approval rating stands at 49.6%, 3.3% below the number of people who voted for him. Considering the horrid economy that he inherited from Mr 29% and the job losses that have followed, I'd say Obama's in great shape politically.

“ What the American public school system does to education in the large American cities this what this health care bill will do to the Quality of health care in th eUSA. ”
What the American public school system does for education in all American cities is to provide one for people who otherwise would not be able to afford it. Without the public school system, millions of children would get no education whatsoever which would have an enormous impact on the American economy. Most of the best private high schools and colleges are located in Americas biggest cities, so public school has absolutely no impact on their quality or performance. Likewise, 40 million uninsured Americans amounts to a huge drain on the US health care system, now the most costly on planet earth as a result. Subsidizing private health insurance for people who can't afford it will have little to no impact on your private care, in spite of the fear-mongering you are obviously inundated with on a regular basis. You might want to consider changing the channel and start thinking for yourself.
