The five girls, who all attend a religious high school in the West Bank, were arrested two years ago for entering a sealed-off military area during a protest atthe illegal outpost of Givat Or near Beit El.

The girls, who were 14 and 15 years old at the time of their arrest, claimed that police officers threatened them and used force as they led them into detainment.

The girls refused to identify themselves, which the said prompted the officers to threaten them with a strip search.

The plaintiffs met with an attorney at the scene, who advised them that such a search would be illegal. However, the lawsuit filed on Thursday said a strip- search was indeed conducted as soon as their attorney left the police station.

“The plaintiffs suffered severe emotional distress during the incident, just from the thought that a stranger would see their private areas and inspect them,” the lawsuit stated.

“They girls felt humiliated, shamed, and demeaned as the search was conducted, sentiments that lingered long after the incident had concluded.”

The director of the religious sector’s center for sexual assault victims said the girls were subject to “emotional rape.”

In response, the police defended its “legal right to conduct a physical search of those arrested. In this case, as in others, the search was conducted according to regulations and while attempting to keep the invasion of the detainees’ privacy at a minimum.

The Brisker ruv Z”L used to cross the street as he approached an israeli police officer, he said that a tzioni with a weapon is “nechshad on shfichas dumim”, we clearly see that these police officers with no morals are not only suspected but do gilu aryos as well

I think we need to strip search the police officers involved, and we need to let the fathers and brothers of these brave women do the job. these people need to be brought to justice even if vigilante style.
I am truly sickened by this –

If the Israeli police truely felt the need to strip search them for security reasons (which I don’t believe anyway) why couldn’t they have ONLY FEMALE police officers do.
    Wouldn’t that make sense?

I can’t comment on what the Brisker Rav supposedly said, but I do know that many “Zionists with weapons” have performed heroic acts over the years defending the lives of Jews who would otherwise have been at the mercy of Jew killers. If more Jews had left Europe before WWII, Hitler ymach shmo would not have had so many defenseless Jews to murder. I also know that “Zionist with weapons” saved the life the Satmar Rav, smuggling him out of Europe.

While I don’t know for sure, I am 99.99% positive that any strip search conducted was done so by female officers. I am not sure what in this article leads some people thinking male officers were involved in a search.

I’m confused. Angry teens enter a military restricted area and then refuse to give their names and they complain about a search? What do you think would happen in any civilized country in the world including the u.s. if a bunch of teens entered a restricted military area and behaved like this? Do you think they would get a lollipop and a gold star?

If these girls were truly religious, they wouldn’t have been involved in the first place!

The article does not mention if the officers were men or women. If they were women, that was a risk the girls took when they went to interfere with gov’t orders. If they were men, the entire dati community should be bringing the country to a standstill with civil unrest. If they don’t, they and the giv’t deserve each other.

As a side issue, what were frum 14 and 15 year old girls doing at a protest?

These young women have only themselves to blame. When you break the law and then compound your illegal behavior by refusing to identify yourself, don’t go whining about the police. And this “emotional distress” meshugaas is somthing a plaintiffs lawyer might appreciate but otherwise save it for your therapist. In simple terms, if you don’t want to risk the consequences of imprisonment, don’t break the law. The police acted entirely properly and within their guidelines. Men are subject to the same “strip search” rules and there is no basis for treating women differently.

huh, ’emotional rape’? It seems to me that these girls just want to make a few extra bucks on this act. They dont have any evidence that they were actually raped, but claims ’emotional rape’ to have an easier time trying to prove it in court.

Before everyone starts screaming about the “Nazi” Isreali police, you must ask if you would have the same reaction if a bunch of angry arab teens entered a restricted military area in the west bank and refused to provide identification.

Sometimes, I feel like “reising kriah” over the hatred displayed by one Jew towards another. The seculars are accused of brutality, the frummers are accused of brutality. We have our differences, but the worst Jew is still our brother. Secular Jews are dying on the battlefield to protect all Jews, and many ultra Orthodox are moser nefesh to help other Jews in their own way.

The Second Temple was destroyed because of Sinat Chinam. Let’s not destroy what we hav enow for the very same reason!

if you have personaly experienced the “isreili style interrogation” or “army questioning” you will know quite well what the sickening isreili forces who carry weapons did.
the attorney advised them not to strip search the girls, they were doing it to intimidate and for fun.
they are a sadistit and barbaric group. who were under no threat from 14 15 year old demonstrators.
remember we are not talking about arab girls we are talking about those who value life.

This is absolutely standard procedure. The young women were caught in a sealed-off military security area. They were arrested. In cases like that police in any country would do a thorough search. Yes, that includes areas normally covered by underwear. I’ve known plenty of deputies who found weapons on suspects after the initial search, once they had already been processed and were in jail. Sometimes they found the weapons when they were attacked. And no, it wasn’t always big ugly dark-skinned men who brought out the knife or gun. Sometimes it was sweet-looking girls.

That these girls attended a religious school is completely irrelevant.
That they were religious means less than nothing.
They were unhappy about it, but that simply doesn’t signify.
They were in a restricted area. They were arrested. And part of the procedure is a thorough search. It doesn’t matter who you are or how nice the people at your synagogue think you are.

Using the threat of strip search is the same exact thing as sexual assault. Strip search for security reasons is ok. Strip search used as a threat is criminal, and is internationally recognized as a violation of human rights. The israeli police threatened, and actually did strip search these girls are no different than communists and terrorist. Ditto for their commanders if they aren’t prosecuted for sexual assault.

It’s evident that the police officers threatening the strip search only did so with intent to terrorize these girls and the ENTIRE RELIGIOUS COMMUNITY. They are utterly disgusting chayos and have no morals. This is secular zionism at it’s worst.

It sounds like these kids are being used by the settlers. Why else would they send these girls out to protest and trespass on military bases. They think they will be treated with kid gloves because they are girls and that the settlers can then howl and sue and make a publicity stunt when the girls are treated like anyone else trespassing on a military base and refusing to identify themselves. Unfortunately, these families are playing with fire. This is very risky behavior. People sometimes get shot when trespassing on a military base (g-d forbid).

Yesterday someone entered a closed US military zone in Afghanistan. Rather than getting strip searched he was let in. Seven are dead as a result.

And if you want to say, “no religious person would do this,” consider that (1) they might have been Arab terrorists disguised as religious girls, and (2) so-called religious Zionists have been openly calling for civil war against the IDF.

Sorry, but a strip search was appropriate.

Sorry, Charlie! This was strictly done to punish the girls. It was very inappropriate.

I have handled civil rights cases before. I would make a bet the officers were men. Stop kidding yourselves that is usually what happens. The cops do this stuff only to humiliate women. What world do you people live in? People with a little power are very dangerous whether they are cops or prosecutors they are dangerous. They are not nice if you piss them off.
