David Coleman Headley, arrested in October for his alleged part in plotting an attack against a Danish newspaper, may face new charges surrounding the 2008 bombings of Mumbai, the FBI said.
Colorado resident Najibullah Zasi, 24, his father and another alleged accomplice were arrested in September for what the Justice Department called “conspiracy to use weapons of mass destruction against U.S. citizens.”
Another alleged terrorist plot was foiled when five men were arrested and convicted of providing material support to al-Qaida and planning attacks on U.S. targets including Chicago’s Sears Tower.
Other foiled plots include one involving a U.S. citizen allegedly trying to detonate a vehicle bomb at the Springfield, Ill., federal building; four people charged with planning to shoot down military planes and blow up Jewish targets; and seven men, including a father and two sons in North Carolina, charged with conspiring to provide material support to terrorists and to wage jihad overseas, the FBI reported.
“I’m Hashem lo yishmor eer, shuv shokad shomer”!
This is the first joke of 2010!
This is why the “war on terror” is a delusion. These attempted attacks weren’t stopped by expensive military equipment or regiments of soldiers. They were stopped by good old-fashioned competent police work. The FBI is doing its job against the terrorists the way it did its job against the mobsters.
Fancy words don’t do the job. Thundering about how we’re going to put all those so-and-so’s six feet under won’t stop terrorists. Professional investigations by professional law enforcement prevents them from succeeding.
Let’s hear less hot air, and put our gratitude – and our money – where it belongs -on the cops, not the wind-bags on the radio/TV.
