This spring, the next great American dynasty will take a spiritual vacation. No, the Kennedys aren’t off to Hyannis Port. The Bushes aren’t whacking brush somewhere in Central Texas. The Roosevelts aren’t in Oyster Bay.

The Emanuel boys are heading to Israel.

Ari and Rahm Emanuel are returning to the land of their forefathers—and their actual father, Benjamin—to celebrate the bar mitzvahs of their eldest sons, Noah and Zach. That’s two more Emanuel men coming of age. And if you think the current generation is insufferably driven and accomplished (all three, including older brother Zeke, being titans in Hollywood, government, and medicine), just wait till you see the mensches in the wings.

For example, there’s Rebekah Emanuel, Zeke’s oldest. After graduating Phi Beta Kappa, magna cum laude, near the tippy top of her 2007 Yale class, with 29-straight As, she has been visiting blighted developing nations, studying there and aiding the infirm. She has been awarded some of the nation’s most prestigious grants and fellowships: the Simon, the Mitchell, the Fox, the Sewell, the Jerome Medalie Endowment (which she used to work at a hospice in Uganda), and the Haas Prize for Fundamental Humanity.

A shanda to shep naches over Rahm. He hasn’t exactly distinguished himself advising and supporting his boss’s policies with respect to Israel. He’s an obnoxious Chicago thug with no morals, who now is trying to ingratiate himself to the Jewish community with this latest spin/photo-op/feel good story. I hope people won’t be fooled.

Why do the libs always run to Africa to do chesed when there are plenty of impoverished people here in America?
Granted, I understand the situation is much worse in Uganda, but there are still plenty of people in America that are living on the streets.
Why is it that in the lib’s mind America always comes second?

Rahm Emanuel is a socialist and a political thug. The first story I read about him is how he threatens Democrats who do not vote according to his dictates. He stabbed a restaurant table with a steak knife when someone mentioned a polical rival. As for his brother the Doctor, I read that he was appointed to President Obama’s Healthcare Advisory Panle becuase of his “Physician’s” philosophy of cutting off medical treatment for the elderly because the youth will deserve the Government’s public health funds over those who have already lived their lives and do not contribute to society in retirement. Dr. Emanuel’s medical policy indicates that as Obama’s Policy advisor he plays the role of that of a Jewish Dr. Mengele. I do not find this family to be exemplary in any way and I am not proud of him or his Physician brother.

MI KIAMCHA YISROEL! Showing the world hard work, brains and being mentches. its sad that some of the comments here are so negative just because of politicval party affiliation (whioch says nothing of the politics of the kids – who are choosing paths of helping others and being mikayem kiddush sheim shamayi\m with their good work and kindness) we have only to be proud of the young emanuels who embody true jewish values. kol hakavod, kein yirbu!

Rahm was a dance major at Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville; for all his bluster he always struck me as being, “light in the loafers and limp of wrist.”

#29 , Socialism is Government telling the Citizenship that the Politicians running the State are entirely responsible for each Citizen’s health, education and welfare. The Citizen must pay confiscutory tax rates to finance the State. Individual rights are curtailed. In most Socialist European States there is no G-d or Church or sense of community responsibiltiy. There is only the Government. The Government is expected to provide all. Interestingly, the EU is doing its best to prevent Chinese inroads to their economies. As a result, unemployment is 20% and rising in most major Cities — Paris, London, Berlin. Youth are under-educated and unemployed. State industries are bankrupt and many expect massive shutdowns in the next five years due to lack of subsidies from the Central Government Treasuries. All in all, Socialism is the death of a Nation. Why is Communist China prosperous? Because it is only Socialist in controling media, education and the army. Individuals are able to work to build companies with low taxes and no healthcare tax burden. The Hospital System is primitive and ill patients only receive aspirin or the equivilent. That was the secret of the USA.

I’ve seen the 3 brothers on TV, self-promoting about how great (k’nayn-a-hora) they (and their family) are (superstars all). After vomiting, I got to think about the Yidden who believe/believed that if we shine in our contributions to the olam, anti-semitism would melt away as the goyim will all revere the Jews as models of good citizenry and brilliance. Seems like German Jewry had the same delusions back in the 30’s. It’s time for us to wake up. All the Jewish Nobel Prize winners and contributions to humanity will not endear us to the goyim; if anything they will fan the fires of hatred for the Jews even more.

and by the way, somehow after the neo-liberal reforms and experiments, mostly of the 90s, in many countries, in particular Russia, a lot of people believe that it’s capitalism that’s the death of a nation. sad, but true. as for me, neither cap-m nor soc-m in their pure form are good enough; it’s the balance of them that makes free society so successful
