“The Islamic Revolution opened a window to liberty for the human race, which was trapped in the dead ends of materialism,” Ahmadinejad said during a cabinet meeting on Sunday.
“If the Islamic Revolution had not occurred, liberalism and Marxism would have crushed all human dignity in their power-seeking and money-grubbing claws. Nothing would have remained of human and spiritual principles,” he added.
Ahmadinejad said that in the three decades of its history, the Islamic Revolution had inspired some great developments in the world.
The Iranian president made the remarks as the 31st anniversary of the Islamic Revolution approaches.
Iranians are expected to pour into the streets on February 11 to celebrate the occasion in public rallies across the country, as they have done annually over the past three decades.
These people have such ferver that when they pour into the streets they have a history of trampling each other. But such is the value they place on human like.
great developments in the world…such as?
His comments about liberalism sound like some commenters on this site.
how did Theodor Herzl say it? “if you want, it’s not a myth”.
the same has proven to be true in this case. it’s time to stop threatening Iran and sit down for serious negotiations.
Perhaps this madman is just rattling his tail. But the world needs to hear the warning that he is declaring war on all of us. Will we be lulled into slumber or will we wake up and take him out? The liberal view will suggest we negotiate, declare sanctions, and other stupidities. We have failed to accomplish anything except to reset the deadlines. That snooze button is useless. We need to do something in the military line, and we must do it fast. To h-ll with the civilian side effects.
have water in your house- bottled water.
it is very difficult to say how events turn out to be. We have to be on alert. That’s for sure. I agree with #9 comment that waiting for collapse of USSR was better than nuclear war. Though waiting is not the right word. There were a lot of activities that weakened The Former Soviet Union.
It is very easy to look back and criticize what was done wrong. For example I think that It would be better for USSR to establish it’s rule in Afganistan that what we have there now or at least not to supply rebels with arms at the time when Gorbachev came to power since Osama Bin Laden was created there and represent more evil in the world than USSR.
In re to Iran the best policy would be to support internal pro western political rebels. It does not mean that that nuclear option has to be completely out of the table. Very tough situation.

simplistic, but #7 is right, a person can live without food for at least a month, but without water one can’t live for more than 3 days. The first priority is w a t e r.
I’m pretty sure he said this exact same crap last year with no effect.
