The meeting took place in downtown Manhattan (not City Hall), according to sources familiar with the get-together.

The endorsement isn’t a done deal yet, but it is looking highly likely. When and if an official announcement comes, it won’t be an enormous surprise.

Greenfield already enjoys the support of former Mayor Ed Koch, a close Bloomberg ally. Also, a former Bloomberg aide, Mark Botnick, who was also at today’s meeting, is managing Greenfield’s campaign.

Bloomberg doesn’t have the greatest track record when it comes to the success of his endorsees, but his support in the 44th CD could have a big impact.

There was considerable pre-Election Day speculation about Bloomberg losing support among Orthodox voters in Brooklyn, who make up a significant portion of the 44th CD. But, the mayor performed strongly there on Nov. 3, winning more than 70 percent of the vote, which was slightly lower than his 2005 results, but still very high.

A Greenfield supporter noted that none of the candidates backed by Assemblyman Dov Hikind, who is working very hard for Joe Lazar and against Greenfield in the 44th CD special election, carried his district last fall – that includes Bill Thompson, Sen. Kevin Parker, Councilman Brad Lander and Comptroller John Liu.

Greenfield isn’t the only one working on his endorsements.

Lazar is poised to land the support of Lander and one of his 2009 primary opponents, John Heyer, who carried Borough Park last September.

Lazar was also endorsed by Sen. Diane Savino – who was for Greenfield until Seymour Lachman floated his name (he decided against entering the race yesterday) – Parker, who has made it clear his main goal is to keep Hikind happy, and Assemblymen Steve Cymbrowitz and Jim Brennan.

The special election to fill the seat Felder vacated when he went to work for Liu will be held on March 23.

during the last mayoral election Bloomberg didn’t do too well in boro park which means that his endorsement is not a contributing asset.

Now all David Greenfield needs is Obamas vote and he’ll be sure to lose even more.

WOW, Mark Butnick delivered Bloomberg for Greenfield so now we can get more tickets, higher real estate tax and get another puppet on the City Council.

Mark and the Mayor think that the residents in Boro park are stupid and they fall for photo-ups as some of the BP Jewish Council.

Mark, you should also threaten all leaders just as you did in Williamsburg at the mayoral election, maybe that will work

David Greenfield can one day be governor with his skill. You might as well endorse him now rather than later

Personally I don’t care for any political endorsement. not Bloomberg nor Hykind, the key is the moisdes hatoirah who are struggling to survive in this economy. There is some activity going on with the major moisdes like Satmar,Bobov etc. From what I have heard there are issues concerning funding for religious schools etc. As a father of 5 kids in Yeshiva I will wait and reserve my vote until that conclusion is publicized.

You dream got very far from 8000 votes but this isn’t the issue

Neither the hayer team nor the hikind team or the mayor has a power in boro park
Its who the yeshivas endorse and if lazar gets all the yeshivas greenfield can concede today

Greenfield is a good guy but he doesn’t have a good read of the real political situation in the district if he is angling for Bloomberg’s endorsement. Bloomberg should not endorse, he will not gain anything from it.

What all the smart people complaining about Bloomberg and his tickets don’t realize is that the city needs money. Its better for everyone if he raises that by ticketing people who could have prevented the ticket rather then raise property taxes across the board or something similar.

    Blumy
Needs to understand that he got our vote because we thought he will win regardless and we didn’t want him to take revenge
Have we knowns thompson is so close blumberg would have lost with a landslide
Greenfeld needs to understand that endorsements from outsider political big shuts won’t help him a bit even if he has the vote of the head of the united nation it won’t help so he needs to focus on endorsement of yeshivos satmar bobov 48 bobov 45 belz biznitz ger and others
Each yeshiva has more votes then all blumberg supporters together

Bringing in the Mayor to endorse David Greenfield is just great, we just saw 3 months ago that the mayor only won by 50,000 votes.

Haven’t we learned anything from the past if you are close to the Mayor, 18% real Estate Tax, $5,000,000.00 in traffic tickets in 1 year and more coming-closing of fire houses, laying off cops BUT hiring more traffic enforcement agents.

I don’t think that David needs the Mayor’s endorsement, he already has the endorsement of the biggest anti-semit in the City next to Al Sharpton, and that’s the person he sits down with to figure out what to do.

We all hope that the residents in Boro Park will not be so blind and stupid and fall for the person that’s endorsed by Vito Lopez as was done by irresponsible leaders in Williamsburg.

Its high time to send the message to Vito and his friends and stand up to the party boss, New Jersey, Virginia and Massachusetts here comes Boro Park

Its such a shame with all the Mosdos and all the “Machers” that a community like Boro Park doesn’t have anyone to put up to represent them except for Greenfield and Lazar. There is something really missing in this equasion. Momish no leadership in the political world.

    Heyer Team

If the Heyer is working for Lazar, the same Team who workd for the Mayor then they are gonna win BP, no doubt about it, Heyer won Boro Park in the last election, he did loose the primery’s because he lost in the other parts of the 39th district, but if the same people toghter with Dov Hikind, will work for Lazar then with Hashems help Lazar will win with a Landslide.
    GO LAZAR GO

This campaign is not about who knows who or who endorses who!! This campaign is about who is going to be best for our community. Nachman Caller lived in this community all his life. Nachman Caller runs a very successful lawyers office right here in the heart of our community and know what the community’s needs. Dont you think that someone from our community would know whats best for us.
    Think about it!!!
