Washington - Obama Gets Real Kick in New Poll |
|

Washington - President Obama’s job approval rating has taken another dive, putting him underwater for the first time in the latest Marist poll.
Just 44% of the country approve of the work Obama is doing, while 47% don’t like what they see.
The tough reviews come as Americans still find the commander in chief likable, with 50% rating him favorably, and 44% viewing him negatively.
And they still blame former President George W. Bush for the dismal economy.
Only 29% of voters say the poor economy is Obama’s fault; 62% agree that Bush left the problem on Obama’s desk.
“With this part of voters’ mind-set, it’s no wonder the White House would like to make 2010 a choice between President Obama and past GOP policies,” said Lee Miringoff, director of The Marist Institute for Public Opinion.
Still, people think Obama’s policies are not change they can believe in.
Forty-seven percent of voters say Obama has not lived up to their expectations, with just 42% saying he has.
A narrow plurality - 38% - think Obama’s change has been bad, and 37% think it’s been good.

Yea Mr. Obama, blame it on whoever you want but YOU were the one telling Americans that YOU are the one who is gonna build the economy.. You had a choice to leave the hard work for someone else. If you took oath of office you should be responsible to improve the economy and blame everything on yourself you knew about the tough times..now YOU will get the blame.

In today's world, it's the easiest thing to blame someone else for your mess-up. If Americans can be so foolish to vote in such an idiot to run the country, then it comes as no suprise that 62% blame President Bush for todays crisis. Who knows what it will take to wake Americans from dreamland?!

Oh, come on, fellow. Bill Clinton left the USA at peace and with a $200 billion SURPLUS. In contrast, GWB not only left us with the largest deficit in our history up to that time, but bogged us down in an entirely unnecessary war in Iraq--we went in because of WMD's, remember, which were never found after 6 years in control of the country. Is it so unreasonable that President Obama may take more that one year to clean up GWB's mess, that was made over eight years?

If most people still blame Bush for the economy, it's mighty strange that in 3 recent elections (2 for governor, 1 for senator), the Republicans won by a landslide.
If most people being questioned in the polls are self-defined dems, the polls are slanted to begin with; i.e., the actual ratings are probably even worse.

Americans have no one to blame but themselves. Since when is it cool to elect hot-air politicians with no experience. It all started in the 2008 primaries when Iowa started off Obozo and John McCain - another lame choice - on their bids. Mitt Romney, with his business and governor experience, would have been an ideal choice.

Oilem goilem. That's why Obama is in office. He campaigned on the anti-Bush theme, and the economy that was tanking because of bad credit stuff (legislated by Democrats) had begun under the Bush administration. The change he promised was never more than an imagination, and way, way too many voters bought it. Now, we are all recognizing that the emperor has no clothes. There is no policy advanced by Obama that will do anything except create record making deficits that will damage the integrity of the US economy for generations. And all this at the expense of safety and protection from terror. He never had a single idea of how to make the country better. Nor was there anything in his entire career to indicate that he had qualification for leadership. So we have countless politicians who are Democrats believing everything Obama says, bellyaching when others scrutinize his suggestions and find them dangerous. Obama and his policies are a threat to our national security, our economy, and our freedom. Wake up.

Meanwhile, the Gallup three day rolling average just jumped to 50-41 approval. That is as favorable as it has been since early November.

I will vote for Sarah Palin. Not because I like her but because if she is president, Obama is not.

#8 says, "and the economy that was tanking because of bad credit stuff (legislated by Democrats) had begun under the Bush administration."
Yeah, right. Bush had control of both Houses of Congress until 2006, and then, with the Democrats limited to a one-vote majority in the US Senate, could successfully veto any Democratic Party bill he didn't like. Where does #8 get this idea of "legislated by Democrats?" He should do his homework more carefully.

The very day this poll was released, the Gallup poll reported that Obama's approval was up to 50% overall. And Research 2000 still has him at 56% approval. And the Marist poll still had Obama defeating Palin in 2012 by 15 points -- double his margin against McCain.
A comparison of the poll results by party is interesting:
Gallup Marist R2K
Dem 83 81 90
Ind 46 29 51
Rep 15 15 6
The Marist poll seems to be getting different Independents.
Meanwhile, the Rasmussen and R2K polls also surveyed favorability of congressional leaders:
Rasmussen R2K
Pelosi 35 40
Reid 31 26
McConnell 28 20
Boehner 24 20
Democrats aren't popular, but Republicans are even less popular.
