Deerfield Beach, FL - Man Broke Into Synagogue Dressed Up in the Rabbi’s Clothes and Stole Booze
Deerfield Beach, FL - Police are searching for a man who broke into a Deerfield Beach synagogue, wandered around inside for two hours, ransacked offices, stacked computers and silverware to steal and tried on the rabbi’s clothes—finally leaving with a couple of bottles of booze.
Detectives are hoping someone recognizes the gangly, shirtless burglar whose protracted escapade was captured on surveillance video. He can be seen on the video with a table cloth on his head walking leisurely through the kitchen, grabbing a hand cart and stacking trays of silverware. He ransacked two offices, rummaged through drawers and ripped computer equipment out of the wall. For a moment on the video, is seen wearing a jacket from the rabbi’s office.
Later in the video, the cloth falls and his face becomes visible. When he noticed the surveillance cameras, he ripped them from the walls. He left the computers and silverware behind and left with little more than a few bottles of liquor and some non-alcoholic beverages.
Anyone with information about the burglary or the identity of the suspect can report it to BSO Detective Lesley Washecka at 954-480-4294 or report it anonymously Crime Stoppers of Broward County at (954) 493-TIPS. A reward of up to $1,000 is available for information leading to an arrest.
