Rav Metzger writes, “It has come to my attention that new evidence has surfaced in this case and changes in the law have taken place that merit consideration of clemency. I am convinced that there is sufficient cause to at least delay this execution until all evidence and legal arguments are presented.”

Grossman on death row for over 25 years is scheduled to be executed this Tuesday night 6:00 pm est.

This letter comes on the heels of a historic letter to the Florida Governor written and signed by the leaders of seven major American orthodox organizations representing hundreds of thousands of Jews, including:

Agudath Israel of America, National Council of Young Israel, Orthodox Union,, Satmar (UJO- UJ cares) RCA and Chabad urging the Governor to grant clemency to Mr. Grossman. A personal request by Rabbinical leaders to meet has so far been ignored by the Governor.

Please continue calling , sending letters do all what you can. Saving a single life is like saving the whole world. The Mitzvah of loving our fellow applies even to a Yid that we never saw in our lives.

At this point I’m ready to call and e-mail to urge the governor to go ahead with the execution! Enough, already! This guy is a cold-blooded murderer, no different than the hundreds or thousands of others that are put to death every year in the US.

If you oppose his execution due to his youth, mental capacity, drug use, etc., you should get on board and oppose the death penalty for the vast majority of death-row inmates that share these factors.

The tragedy revealed in this case is the scourge of drug use. The disgusting Obama Administration and Democrat Party is legalizing marijuana in NJ, California, and Heaven Forbid in NY. There will be children and adults using drugs because of these disgusting immoral politicians and there will be murders and injuries because of these politicians. May HKBH have mercy on all of us and especially on those Yidden who vote for the immoral Democrats who have brought this tragedy upon us and our communities.

There is no question that executing Martin Grossman now for something he did 25 year ago. More time has elapsed since the crime than Martins age at the time. He has also changed so much since then that he cannot be considered the same person. When he is lead to the execution its basically like picking someone off the street and executing him.

Its similar to the case of Mumba abu Jamal in Pennsylvania. Over there his execution has been put into suspended animation. He will die from old age before it takes place.

Just yeterday a 94 year old prisoner died after spending decades on death row.

Its done all the time and this case is also a prime candidate.

    Dear Governor;
Nobody is denying the crime, and nobody is disputing the sentence.
We all agree that Martin Grossman was a murderer, who was convicted
25 years ago, however, the sentence that was meted out to him 25 years ago does not suit the man he is today.
I’m a H.S Guidance Councelor, and we are forever impressing on our students
that ANYBODY can have another chance .Nobody is a “gonner” unless he
    decides to be one.
Martin Grossman, is a humble man, he is not “demanding” anything, he is
    “pleading” for another chance
The most important lesson we can give to our future generations, is that
it pays to REPENT and begin anew, regardless of how low we have fallen.
We are very anxious, for the sake of Martin Grossman and for the sake
of millions of people who are closely watching the outcome, that Martin
Grossman gets a fair “chance”. Lets face it, he has paid for his crime with
living for 25 years with a sword over his head.

This is just another pathetic attempt from Jewish leaders to stop the deserved punishment of a murderer because he is Jewish.
What’s more pathetic is an Israeli government official (the chief rabbi gets his paycheck from Israeli government) trying to meddle in American legal proceedings in the State of Florida when their Supreme Court and the Governor have reviewed the case and found no “new evidence” to let him escape justice. Metzger should stick to dealing with issues concerning Israelis not U.S. citizens.

To say that U.S. criminal law is somehow tied to biblical and Talmudic law is an exaggeration and a stretch of historical facts to say the least. There is smaller connection to ancient biblical legal proceedings ever since we last stoned the Salem “Witches” in the trials of 1692.

Would all of you really be so “merciful” if the victim had been a Chareidi mother of 10?

It’s one thing if gedolim are telling people to call government officials to say that the death penalty should be eradicated as a whole then fine, but to tell people to call up and say that they support the death penalty but just not when it’s a jewish life at stake is a bit ridiculous.

So, apparently, protecting Jewish criminals in Israel (see also, Mondrowitz) leads to protecting Jewish criminals in America.

Is it too much to ask that the Rabbi concern himself with the victims rather than the perpetrators?

either youre against executions or youre not
if you are,the why havent we seen an outcry before. funny how its only when a jewish person is the one
what about the person HE murdered hm? and if a life is holy, the so are the lives of the murdered woman, and so are the lives of every other person on death row.
    let em all out!!
Its either one way or the other

know what i learned from this? the hypocrisy of ‘rabbis’ and ‘leaders

a woman was murdered. murdered. a human life was taken. tell the isralie rabbis to keep their noses in their country. a hew and a cry only for a jewish murderer but ,, either stand up like a man and a human and demand all prisoners off of death row, or keep quiet
no wonder there’s so much anti semitism in the world
    how arrogant and how disgusting
im calling gov christ; and my comments are going to be ‘as an orthodox jew, im horrified and sickened that some people in my community are suddenly coming out of the woodwork and having a ‘conscience’, but only in regard to their own small world
do the rest of the world, the majority of us a favor
    pull the lever

To all the hypocrites that are permeating this site with their heartfelt pleas that fool no one: Go back and read what the overwhelming opinions were on the schizophrenic guy that assaulted Rabbi M. in Lakewood. The majority felt 8 years isnt enough and were calling for the death penalty. So I ask in all seriousness that the hypocrisy stop. If the mainstream media would pick up this story of frum Jews trying to protect a brutal cop-killer because hes a Jew that only killed a “Goy”. I can promise you anti-semitsm would increase .A lot. And rightfully so.

i signed on to the petition that told me i was the 23,000th something petitioner. this is truly unbelievable! all those people (who find hours to blog) and cant find the 2 mins to do their part and sign are oiver Lo Saamoid al Dam Reiacho. Gevaalt! a few hours to go and you chevra are busy preaching and blogging your opinions whilst someones life hangs on the line. Noone is requesting he be let off or forgiven, merely to be punished the way most of the civilised world does it including a good part of the USA. and before u criticise the Aguda and other orgs remember a) they are here to fight for our rights because nobody else will (as we see time and time again) and nobody expects them to do anything other than that (if they were here to fight for the entire population they wouldnt get anywhere) and b) they do more than u do for the tzibbur so i wouldnt speak! your ahavas yisroel is on par with richard goldstone and your value of human life is on par with the arabs!

Its funny..all of you are praying for this cold blooded murderer who beat his victim 20-30 times before finally shooting her. Where is your common sense? Or you dont have any because some governemnet paid flunky in a funny hat told you that you should have rachmonus for this murderer.

I dont see you giving a damn as to the conditions of a true Jewish hero. J Pollard who helped save 100’s of 1000’s of Jewish lives as a result of his work on behalf of Israel in the 1980’s , but you break a sweat for this low life. Hang em high I say and good riuddence to bad trash.

When you are kind to the cruel you’ll end up cruel to the kind.

Rabbi Metzger: What is the “New Evidence”. I also would like to commute his sentence. But the only basis is opposition to the death penalty.

Please call 850-488-7146. He does not deserve this. Even if he chayav misa, his punishment should not be carried out by the the non jewish courts. The only ones who can declare someone chayav misa is the bais din in the times of the tanach which we dont have these days! His life should be spared, and if not, he should go straight to gan eiden!
