New York City – Christine Quinn, Speaker of the New York City Council, flew to Israel Saturday, leading a delegation of 14 Council members on a mission sponsored by the Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC) of New York.

The purpose of the trip is to provide an opportunity for the Council members, many of whom will be first time visitors, to explore the many aspects of Israel.
The group will tour the northern part of the country, Jerusalem and Tel Aviv as well as visit many historical and holy sites. They are meeting high level government officials, including the Mayor of Jerusalem, Israeli business leaders, Ethiopian immigrants, and members of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) rescue and relief team who were aiding victims of the devastating earthquake in Haiti. They will also test drive the environmentally friendly electric car produced by the Israeli based company called “Better Place” at a new state-of-the-art visitor center near Tel Aviv.

Gale Brewer, Inez Dickens and Jessica Lappin , all of Manhattan; Fernando Cabrera of the Bronx; Diana Reyna, Sara Gonzalez and Mathieu Eugene, all of Brooklyn, and Thomas White, James Sanders jr., James Van Bramer, Daniel Dromm, Karen Koslowitz, Julissa Ferreras and Eric Ulrich, all of Queens.

Does this mean that their trip was paid for by the JCRC or are NYC tax payers getting the bill for the trip?
I want to put in a good word for my local Councilmember Jimmy G. Van Bramer & his local office staff person Ms. Farrington they were there to be of assistance to me on a matter of a personal nature.
