Manhattan, NY - A homemade explosive was found at a train station, and one man has been taken into custody.

The device, found in front of a ticket window at Metro-North’s 125th Street station, consisted of fireworks taped together with 30 bullets, metal objects and a fuse in a bag —and was capable of igniting, authorities said.

Officials said people could have been killed or injured.

A police explosives squad removed the device and authorities restored train service to the station.

They say a 57-year-old man with no legs in a wheelchair left the would-be bomb. He was taken into custody and is now under observation at Bellevue Hospital Center. Police questioned and released one man who was with him and are still searching for another.

Law-enforcement sources said the suspect in custody has past drug arrests and says a woman gave him the bag.

Authorities say they do not suspect terrorism was a motive but the investigation continues.

Terrorism was not a motive? What do they think his motive was? Perhaps they meant islamic terrorism wasn't suspected but blowing up a bomb in a subway station would qualify in my book as terrorism.

He could have been trying to kill one particular person he had a vendetta for. That's vile, but not terrorism.
