Albany, NY - The superintendent of the New York State Police announces he is retiring. Superintendent Harry Corbitt sat down today with News 10 for an exclusive conversation.

“Yes, I plan to enter back into retirement,” Corbitt said. “I’m looking forward to it, and so effective tomorrow I will be retired from the New York State Police.”

The news comes just days after Governor David Paterson announced he will not seek a full term in office. That announcement came just days after Deputy Public Safety Commissioner Denise O’Donnell resigned after a report that the governor and State Police had contact with a woman who reported a domestic dispute with a top aide. She said she was quitting because Superintendent Corbitt had assured her his agency was not involved.
