Photos from the scene of Aug, 2008 where 3 teens were accused of beating Orthodox Jewish teensMonticello, NY - Attorney William Brenner was summoned before Sullivan County Judge Frank LaBuda Wednesday for a hearing on judicial contempt.
LaBuda is threatening to jail the Grahamsville attorney for five days and impose “a substantial fine” after the two tangled in court Monday.
Brenner represents Sean Gadsen, a teenager accused with two other teens of beating up four Orthodox Jewish men in the parking lot of Walmart in August 2008.
The exchange happened immediately after District Attorney Jim Farrell noted two other defendants had worked out plea deals, but Brenner’s client had not.
“The district attorney’s office and I have had no conferences or even plea discussions with respect to this matter and I’m waiting to hear,” Brenner said during Monday’s hearing.
LaBuda cut him off.

LaBuda is fair and impartial. He presided over many Jewish cases , always fairly. If he says someone is gaming the system, they are. Kalter , shame on you, you should know better. you have a low life for a client. Plead him out or let him rot in jail. Without the Jews , the mountains are Applachian poor. Respect them, their money, and your Heritage. A Shanda for you and your parents.

While I hope the perpertrators get punished to the full extent of the law, this incident leading to the trial should have never transpired. A Rabbi of Blessed Memory once said "A strong Jewish mind, backed up by a strong Jewish body." We Jews never look for trouble, but should always be prepared, willing, and able to defend ourselves and our fellow Jews who are not able. All Yidden, especially fellow frum need to realize self defense is not a chait, but a mitzvah.

That's the problem with the justice system in the U.S. Someone beats another person up in August of 2008, and by March of 2010, they are still waiting for his lawyer to plea bargain!
If he is innocent, he should have been exonerated by now. If he is guilty, he should have been punished. What ever happened to "a speedy trial"?

I agree. Labuda is fair and impartial and bends over backward to have the parties reach a settlement before he rules. As for Kalter, he is just being an attorney. They all represent low lifes and liars. The attorney lied in front of a Judge and that is inexcusable as an officer of the court. Plead him out and let him serve some time. Unfortunatley, the mountains are full of low lifes that we pay to educate. The taxes are high and someone is not spending education dollars wisely. There shuld be Holocaust classes in the local schools. Then we wont be looked at as monsters when we go up to the country.

Judge Labuda is only a fair judge when he rules against the Hassidim. If he sides with the Satmars (White Lake) or with any of the "summer visitors" who are a burden on the superior elite who live in Sullivan and Orange all year round, he's a liar, a thief and a corrupt Justice.
And if you think this is a joke, you're sadly mistaken. The Hassidim just can't be right. Ask the locals - the yokels who sat and spewed their unadulterated hatred toward the Hassidim until their discussion forum was taken down (by people who are not very sympathetic to the Satmers and KJ but who still have some decency in them).
I can just hear them mumbling amongst themselves "The Hassidim don't belong in Wal-Mart in the first place, and they don't pay taxes anyway - who cares what a few teens did to them"
