Sea Gate, NY - A man under indictment for stealing the identity of a missing Russian translator was charged Thursday with her murder - even though her body has never been found.

Dmitry Yakovlev was also accused of killing Viktor Alekseyev, whose dismembered corpse was found in New Jersey woods in January 2006.

The translator, Irina Malezhik, was last seen leaving her apartment in Manhattan Beach on Oct. 15, 2007.

Last year, FBI agents and NYPD detectives searched for her remains in the basement of Yakovlev’s home in Sea Gate, Brooklyn.

They didn’t find it, but some of Alekseyev’s belongings were found in the basement, prosecutors said.

Yakovlev, 42, and his wife Julia, 36, were charged last year with forging Malezhik’s signature on checks and obtaining a credit card in her name after she vanished.

The couple are also charged in the new indictment with stealing the identify of another Brooklyn man, Michael Klein who has been missing since November 2003.

Klein was involved in a real estate transaction with Dmitry Yakovlev around the time he disappeared.

“Identify theft victims usually lose their money. In this case they allegedly lost their lives, too,” Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said.

“That’s why this investigation and prosecution takes on special meaning for all those involved in bringing it to a successful conclusion.”

Shame on you. How dare you say he should be killed. For Grossman, the Florida cold blooded murderer, there were 50,000 signatures and everyone called the governor of Florida and said he shouldn't be killed. He he is barely accused. Grossman the murderer, went thru 10 appeals appeals before he was killed.

We should learn Mishnayos and say tehillim for this murderer. We should get the Nikulsberger Rebbe and the Kossover Rebbe to call a big hisororos drosha for him.
As they say in America when you've seen one murderer youv've seen them all.

How stupid to compare a repented killer who paid for his crime and is already in the oilom ho-emes with someone who is accused of killing people for their identity and we still know very little of. Saving Grossman is one thing, speaking ill of a shoichein ofor is another thing, and is a bad thing.

Grossman was a killer at the time of the murder (by the way his non Jewish co-defendant served only 2 years), but now he was a totally different man, davening and learning Torah. Even though Capital Punishment exists in the Torah, a Beith Din which carried out it once in 70 years was called a bloodthirsty Beith Din (Masechet Makot)! So don’t be such a bloodthirsty! Nikulsberger Rebbe and the Kossover Rebbe did exactly what Torah prescribes them to do
