If you people think there are honest elections in NYC, you must be drinking too much wine on shabbos. Greenfield was a winner from the start thanks to his corrupt machine we call the Democratic party that helped him shut down the opposition. He was brazen enough to "legally" shut down his opposition because he didn't want distractions. Ohh well, people keep voting for Charlie Rangel all these decades, why not Greenfield same story but with a yamulka.

GREAT!!! The Moysdes and Kehiles got a good setback tonight!!! They ran after Lazar out of fear that some rich guy wont $$$$support them anymore. Kehiles were ready to throw us all under the bus and give us Lazar just cuz a few powerful people wanted so, but we all decided that we will NOT be stepped on anymore, and we voted for Greenfield.
I doubt that much will change with just 1 new person at the Council, but the election did what was long in the coming: Moysdes and Kehila bosses who cater only a few and themselves while using their power to have the gullible public to follow like donkeys, got kicked where it hurts.
I hope voters in all Jewish areas will from now on look beyond the “Kehilas” and “Moysdes” request, and vote for the candidate that they, the voters, believe and see is right for them!
hahahah...

No one wins 60 to 40 with "bullying" or "legal corruption". An argument like this is pure chassidisha ignorance, Which is why Lazar never made such claims and shook his hand: cause Lazar isn't ignorant.
It's fine to roo for Lazar, but to become all 3 year old baleidikt that he lost is rediculous.
Read my lips: THIS WAS AS TYPICAL AS A GOOD OLD AMERICAN ELECTORAL RACE COULD GET.

I think you meant to say "He has been chosen for the people, by the people and time will tell whether he will fight for the people". Unless you're a navi of course. By the way, I rooted for him to, but he is a politician at the end of the day. But if you'd like to say that he's king messiah on a white horse, be my guest and convince yourself. In NYC a great politician is one that only has moderate disdain for the constitution.

The real winner is the 18 year old Tischler he made a name for himself, got to meet and make connections with all of the big players from both sides and was one of the only people on Lazer team to produce bringing more then 600 votes on his own, very smart and brave what he did jumping in the race, fighting his being kicked out and then supporting the candidate who did NOT go to court to throw him off, Lazar lost but its not him who lost its Hikand who is now down to his last chance doing well this September and November he losses races then and he's heading for retirement, I don't live in this district but I only hope for the sack of kiddush Hashem that everyone moves forward because thats the only choice.

I wish you guy’s good luck... BP. Was not so lucky tonight by electing somebody a freshman as there councilman with any experience what so ever!! We the Williamsburg community is facing
The same problem by electing somebody with any experience just working for Vito-Lopez machine!! On Sunday afternoon on 13 Ave. was a group campaigning for Greenfield combined Vito Lopez, stave Levine, Mayor Mike Bloomberg. Etc. that’s was not a smart move at all.. Here is a perfect example Williamsburg didn’t change noting for the last three months since he was elected to office.
We really don’t understand for example Steve Levine is not giving too much for our community he doesn’t like the idea and the plan of Rose Garden, Domino, etc.
We the people at the 43rd district are going to suffer up to the next few years like Williamsburg!! We deserve better!!!

When the Hon. David greenfield came to our school “Yeshivas Tiferes Shulem” about three weeks ago to speak to our teen-aged students and inspire and motivate them to fulfill their potentials, I immediately knew that David will be receiving my endorsement.
He related to our students in a way no one else was able to, he gave our students hope and aspirations in educating themselves and being the best they can possibly be. Thats what David Greenfield is all about.
I strongly believed that David was an opportunity for our community to have real and strong representation in the city council!
I'd like to wish Councilman David Greenfield good luck in all your endeavourers, and know that were all rooting for you!

I voted for Greenfield. My primary reason being, that although I thought both of these candidates were very qualified and would do a great job representing their constituents, after listening to the Dov Hiking Show on WMCA, I decided to vote for Greenfield. This was because I couldn't stand the way Dov Hikind (who I actually support and plan on voting for next time he runs) was bashing him. I also heard Joe Lazar on his show a few times and wasn't very impressed by what he said.
I wish both David and Joe much hatzlocha and hope they will continue their work for the klal.
I also wish that next time around the campaign won't be so negative and full of hatred.
As an outsider sitting on the sidelines and observing what has been going on for the past few months, my analysis is that the big losers tonight were:
1) Dov Hikind
2) Akiva Tauber and Belz
3) Chaim Meir Markowitz (who also was the big loser with John Hayer)
4) Shelly Silver
5) The Agudah
The big winners were:
1) Understandably, David Greenfield
2) Bobov
3) Satmar, Munkatch and Boyan
4) VIN for being fair and impartial the whole time (unlike some other websites, which I won't mention)

After an insulting Purim Campaign by the other party, I am proud of the Boro Park residents, who once again prove, that they can't be manipulated, or fooled into a candidate with no qualifications. This sent a very strong message to the so called "Machers".

As an insider: I think Agudah should be on the winners list, because while they had to make the President of there board happy, at the same time they were meeting & buddying up with David. Agudah & David have a fantastic relationship, they work together on a daily-basis to help out the Klal. If you look at the team Greenfield website you will see Agudah's name stated at least a half a dozen times. One of David's pieces of literature even had a pic of him with R' Chaim Dovid Zwiebel.

i got a number of calls from the krasna administrator to make sure that we voted for Greenfield. Rabbi Vogel must have delivered hundreds of votes from the parents and friends of the yeshiva. just goes to show how much influence yeshivas have. I wonder if Greenfield will actually make it easier for us who pay so much for education.

“ I wish you guy’s good luck...

“ I voted for Greenfield.

I know that David has much respect for the Agudah, & will do his utmost to help them, even though they did not support him, due to no fault of their own as they need George's cash. David is a real good Jew and he does does not bear grudges, I believe he will help everyone in the community to the best of his ability.

The Zalman people in Boro Park were very helpful, but the aaronim were exrtremely helpful. to be exact: Aaronim: Moshe Indig was a big leader in getting the vote out and zalman 52nd st Shul people helped as well in getting the word to vote

I don't want to bust your bubble but both Bobovs together did not produce 2000 votes, 1000 each side. If everyone who is eligible to vote registers and goes out to vote than each Bobov can produce more then 2000 votes.
In this election, Moshe Zvi Reicher from Bobov 45 supported David Greenfield from the first minute.

Agudah members on all yeshiva boards were putting the pressure on their schools and organizations, members affiliated ith Agudah were making threats and lefkowitz kept on talking on behalf of Agudah. if Agudah removes Lefkowitz then they can fix their relationships. otherwise im sure Agudah can kiss any chance of funds from the council.

I also witnessed a couple of weeks ago chassidisha yungerleit several tearing down Greenfield signs stating that Lazar is pro gay rights. To me thats not a clean campaign. Just another reason to vote for Greenfield !! I am sick of the arm twisting. Most people I know read newspapers and are knowlegable enough to make a decision who is the best candidate for them. For mosdos like Satmar not to be embarresed to team up with Agudah who they supposedly are at odds with well...... thats very telling.......Hatzlacha David!!! Mark Botnick deserves the credit for his relationships with the Jewish community under Bloomberg.
Names of some people from the community that were important in the upset:
Yitzchok Luzer Wertzberger from Vien (First organizer in the jewish community to put things together), Fishman from Krasna (First real Mosdos to put their name down on paper and stuck it out without games), Moshe Indig from Aaronim (worked non stop to shake up everything) and administrator of Gan Yisroel (First Big Yeshiva to break with the establishment), all these were crucial.
