Rioting Outside the Grodona Yeshiva of Ashdod Photo: Ashdod.netIsrael – Rioting erupted this afternoon outside the Grodno Yeshiva of Ashdod as a result of a legal dispute between the Grodno and Ponovezh yeshivas regarding the ownership of land currently occupied by the Grodno yeshiva. During the afternoon, a representative of the Ponovezh yeshiva came to Grodno’s building in Ashdod in attempt to execute an alleged court order to evict the Grodno Yeshiva from the building.

The Ponovezh representative, accompanied by 30 security guards, refused to show Grodno officials the court order, and as a result violence erupted on the scene between Yeshiva students and the security guards. Police and the Yasam unit were called up to quell the riot, which resulted in a few Yeshiva students being hurt.

After Ashdod Police chief came to the scene and demanded to see the court order, it was discovered that Ponovezh’s representative did not have the alleged court order. Consequently the representative was called up to Ashdod’s police station for investigation. The representative was later released.

The whole deal is shameful, one yeshiva v. another, students rioting against each other. Very sad state of affairs. So, Ponovezh is trying to force another yeshiva out of the building to expand their own Torah learning business, but it does it with lies and no court orders at all? I’m sure many parents are proud to send their boys to an “honest” yeshiva like this.

We chasidim know that moshiach will come keshyafutzu maayanechea chutzah (when the well of chasidus will overflow meaning everyone will know chasidus)I think this story proves we reached that point so moshiach will be here shortly

In a perverse way, this made me laugh. After all the chillul hashem caused by these meshugaiim throwing rocks and dirty diapers at the police at the parking lot in yerushalayim, its nice to see them focus their energies on one another.

At least if they can’t make it in learning they’ll know how to fight.

I wish the various Yeshivas and Mosdos would create a riot league. Each place riots against each other, and whoever wins….well, they win. We could even do tiered leagues. If normal sports aren’t allowed because its bittul torah or too goyish. then at least compete in something that you seem to excel at. You could sell cholent and kishke at the games and maybe some sushi. I definitely see some potential for money here……

Little boys came back to start their new zman only to get thrown out while learning, look most are in shirt sleeves.Their sforim bedding & clothing is inside,. How sad. A private security company of 30 was hired with no lehgal court order nor Beis Din, They beat these innocent boys & call the cops who continued to beat them.
What are the kids meant to do, they are not part of the politics.
Now which Ponevez [there are two, who share the same building Bais Hamedrah , Dorm & dinning room, but Bochurim from the rival Yeshiva may not speak or learn with each other] sent the chevra?
The Poneveze Rov Zatzal set up may Yeshivos, Grodno is one to replace the Yeshivos detroyed in Lita & W. Russia in the Holocaust. He did it Lesheim Shomayim, not to inherit real estate to his kids. This is a chilul Hashem, & the poor bochurim suffer, each & every one must be asked mechila, & I hope no one has perminant injuries.
Torah Tora Chigri Sak !! Shoimu Shomayim.

With all this rioting and battle experience you’d think the Charedim would be a great asset to the IDF. Even more reason for them to join.

It’s very sad that yeshivas cannot get along with each other and have to resort to this. Don’t they know that this will reach the media? The days of Kol De’alim Gevar is gone, nowadays the camera is what prevails.

Wow what great kavod these talmidei chachomim are giving each other during sefira….boruch hashem at least they didn’t do a real issur like chas vesholom shave…. We dont have any dayanim or gedolim that can settle this ? The yeshiva bochrim are going to duke it out ? What kind of crazy world are we living in ? Maybe the gedolim are too busy answering important shailos from people about whether they can wear crocs on yom kippur… Wait a second… can I wear my crocs during sefira ? Doesn’t sefira have some kind of dinei availos ?… I better go run to ask Rav Elyashiv.

As an American charedei who’s lived in Eretz Yisroel for 16 years, I believe that these kids are missing an outlet for physical activities. The taboo on sports must be lifted. I have spoken to several Roshei Yeshivas who agree. In the meantime bochrim have three outlets: napping, smoking, and fighting

The mr. from number 50, he knows exactly who is jewish to make his calculations. The first story now on VIN is “the last jewish baby born at St. Vincent” Nice story.
What is the name of this Jewish mother “Anastasia Jancu”. Nu, you chochom did you include her in your jewish or gentile statistics when you bad mouthed the jewish population.

There is simply NO way to know in the non frum population who is or is not jewish simply by their names. Closed case. We fully accept your apology in the name of judism.
