New York, NY – Mayor Bloomberg Says Ditch Arizona, Come to NYC Instead

    42

A sign in protest of immigration bill SB1070 is displayed on the Wesley Boylan Plaza Saturday, April 24, 2010 at the Capitol in Phoenix a day after Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer signed the bill into law. The sweeping measure would make it a crime under state law to be in the country illegally, and would require local law enforcement to question people about their immigration status if there is reason to suspect they are in the country illegally. (AP Photo/Matt York)New York, NY – The mayor of New York City is using Arizona’s new immigration law to discourage travel to Arizona and instead encourage more business for New York.

“The Arizona immigration bill signed into law today could have a chilling effect on international business travel, investment, and tourism in that state, as many people from around the world may think twice before visiting Arizona and subjecting themselves to potential run-ins with the police,” Michael Bloomberg said.

The mayor went on to say that New York could benefit from Arizona undermining its own ‘international competitiveness.’

“We’re happy to have those businesses and tourists come here,” Bloomberg said. “But as a country, America will be badly hurt if more states follow Arizona’s lead.”

The mayor said foreign investment and tourism are critical to America’s economy, and that this new law sends the wrong message.

“It will adversely affect America’s international reputation as a place to do business, and it will cost America jobs at exactly the time we should be doing everything possible to create them. Instead of misguided efforts by states, we need Washington to lead the way with comprehensive immigration reform that secures our borders, promotes economic growth, and honors our American heritage.”

Every country in the world strictly enforces its immigration laws. Why should America be any different?

Kol hakovod to Mayor Bloomberg for his principled position on this attempt to legitimize racial profiling. We should welcome all those undocumented aliens who are holding conventions and conferences to NYC so we can benefit from their spending on hotels, restaurants and tourism. New York welcomes everyone and we don’t demand to see your green card.

We should all learn a lesson from Arizona, Mr Mayor instead of raising taxes for us to pay for their medicaid/hospital visits, schooling, food stamps and Sect 8, enforce the law and sent ’em back home and multi billions will be alleviated form our state and city budget……DON’T INVITE CRIME TO OUR CITY

In America, we have a saying about illegal immigrant: “they take the jobs Americans don’t want”. Does anyone notice the idiocy of that assertion? The illegal immigrants who work in all the restaurants and retail stores, can pull in $800-$1200 a week at 8 or 9 dollars an hour. Yes the hours are long but this is decent money that some boy or girl could use. Its more dignifying to be on welfare. Gloomberg seems to like keeping New Yorkers unemployed.

Without the large amounts of money from the government going to illegals for schooling, social services, emergency room medical treatment and more, the financial problems of state and local government would be much less. Illegal is illegal, but in Arizona they also have the problem of violent drug gangs from Mexico and smugglers.

Arizona is a beautiful place to live. How many former New Yorkers now call it home? LOTS!!!!!!!!!
Unfortunately, it is having MAJOR problems with illegals and that has impacted on crime, drug smuggling and other issues that affect the quality of life. We should think about that here in New York. Our quality of life has been going downhill since Guilani left.
I don’t see anything wrong with allowing the police to check a persons papers. I don’t consider that “racial profiling.” Pandering to the liberals has only made everyday life worse everywhere.

I think I’m going to move to Arizona, The Govenor has the right idea. Its about time someone stood up for the rights of American citizens and said no to illegal immigrants. They have no rights, they are ILLEGAL! Look up the definition!

REMEMBER: The key word here is ILLEGAL.

If you do something ILLEGAL you are committing a crime. You must pay for your crime not get rewarded for it with all types of benefits!

    ILLEGALS, GO HOME!!!

If Mr. Bloomberg would like Arizona’s tourism, how about if he takes their illegal aliens, too. The time has come where we need to stop taking care of citizens from other countries. We pay taxes to care for our own citizens, let their own countries care for them.

As a Conservative I fully believe that illegals either need to find a way to become legal or get thrown out. Period.

However, giving officers the right to demand that random people on the street show their “papers” hits a bit too close to home for me. There has to be another way. Some of my family were here illegally at one time too. They couldn’t get to America legally from Poland, so they came through Canada and stayed with family here. I shudder at the thought that here in America someone could have stopped them on the street for no reason and demanded to see their “papers”. They could have been sent back to Kielce and been wiped out.

While I know that is not the case with most of the illegals here, one must realize that genocide is very REAL and is still happening in this world. There are countless people who come here from parts of Africa where people are routinely rounded up, raped and slaughtered.

While I 100% agree that illegals need to be dealt with, there has to be a better way. There just has to be. This “solution” seems to be the easy and cowardly way out.

To disagree with Charlie, its not that we “SHOULD” enforce our laws, we MUST enforce our laws.

Bloomberg, is a joke. More illegals in NYC and in the state. I live on
Long Island you would not believe the amount ofillegal aliens on Long Island,
I sometimes wonder if I am living in Mexico. Oh! that’s right I would be
put in jail if I was living in Mexico illegally. By the way Bloomberg
St Vincent’s hopital in the village had to shut it’s doors due to the
fact they couldn’t keep treating patients who do not pay for healthcare.
Over hundred years St Vincent’s was in NYC. You will see more
hospitals closing their doors. sooner then later.
