Heron Bin Salem, 22, a member of the Jewish community, was awaiting his cousin in front of al-Mustakbal School when an officer along with four security members approached him, “trying to get rid of his unfamiliar look,”  Yahya Yousif, the head of the Jewish community in Sana’a told Yemen Observer.

“The officer looked at my cousin and said, ‘I do not like your look (meaning the long curls) and Heron said ‘I am a Jew from Sa’adah.’ The officer, however, got even more angry and said ‘We do not want Jews here,” Yousif said.

The long curls running down the side of their faces characterize Yemeni Jews.

The police held down Ben Salem and tried to cut off his hair.

“The security grabbed Ben Salem’s arms while the officer, armed with a large stick, grabbed his head. Then some people and I intervened and managed to break it off,” Yousif added.

The officer was identified as Rashad al-Masri, who is working as the deputy director of al-Nasr police station.

Yousif expressed his thanks to the Minister of Interior, Mutahar Rashad al-Masri who, upon reporting the abuse, took the required measures.

The Jewish community in Sana’a city make up about 70 people of the whole group. They fled their homes in Sa’adah province after the first war between the government troops and al-Houthi rebels raged in 2004.

I am starting to not feel bad for these people – by now the should have just gotten out. They could always go to Israel, oh I forgot they cant go there, their Zionist,

So tell me if its just the Zionist these Arabs hate why are they discriminating against these poor Jews after all the are aligned with Satmer?

The answer is simple the PLO, Iran, NK, Libya and most other extremest Muslims don’t hate Zionist – they hate jews in any form, shape, size, and color.
and until people start to realize that they lost my sympathy

Note to all my anti-Zionist friends, the officer said “We do not want Jews here”. He did not say we do not want Zionists here. So all of you anti-Zionist bashers can take that to bed with you tonight and sleep on it.

The minister of interior took the required measures! When the yemenites came to the medina in the earlier years and representatives of the govt cut off their peyos and did worse things no minister in the medina did anything to help the frum yidden!

I can’t believe I see all this nitpicking on VIN. Whatever happened 50 years ago or whoever is anti-zionist, blah blah, forget about it for once! These yiddishe neshamas have to get out of Yemen before they’re killed. That’s what is important for now. Afterwards everyone can argue about whether they’ll keep their peyos in America or Israel but for now, GET THEM OUT OF THERE before it’s too late.

#2 , your comment gives away who you are, where your from and where your heading to. But a little info first. Getting out of Riyadh\Sanaa is no simple feat. The Yidden there have had lots of trouble receiving permission to leave and enter elsewhere. If you are a steady reader on this site you would have read this some time ago. I personally know an english guy who’s working tough years to get them to england. He’s been successful with some but not all. Visas are difficult to obtain for them and perhaps you should assist them instead of making your absolutely uncalled for nasty comments.

I see these antisemites learnt well from the zionists, who also forcibly cutoff the Yemenite’s children’s payos as soon as they got off the plane in the State of Israel.

Eli, and others, I think you are right in away, that its not only about Zionists and that there are, unfortunately, people here who hate jews, not because they are jews, but because they hate anything that is not like them, and I think you know this Eli..I told u many stories about the discrimination in Yemen..There are some sick people who want you either to follow, otherwise you are an enemy, and thank God am an enemy. The thing is that each group will use such stories to serve certain purposes…
