New York, NY - A New York City college has launched a pilot program that allows undocumented Mexican restaurant workers to take classes.

New York City College of Technology in Brooklyn offers 15-week hospitality management training classes combined with English and math. Students will end up with a City Tech certificate that’s also recognized in Mexico.

City University of New York Vice Chancellor Jay Hershenson said the program aims to head off an “educational catastrophe” among Mexican immigrants.

CUNY said the program is funded by a $100,000 grant from the Mexican government.

Will there be raids on all these businesses taking in undocumented workers or are they only reserved for people like Rubashkin?

We are in an upside down world:

This college is making programs for illegals, schools cater to illegals, police are prohibited from asking illegals about their status, hospitals must give them free services, yet woe unto the person who gives the said illegal a JOB! Did you say JOB?! Oh, my, what a criminal you are, you employed someone?

The "criminal" evil employer replies: what's so terrible? I gave them jobs, I pay them, I pay their payroll taxes, they can put food on the table and pay their rent.

ICE and the entire "morally outraged" public responds: No, you are a dirty criminal. Schools must teach the children, as they must get an education, we don't want them on the streets, colleges are noble for giving them courses, so they don't become vagrants and useless residents of the USA, hospitals must give them free healthcare with your tax dollars as that is only morally right. But giving the man a JOB!? That's terrible! They might actually earn their own money! And you are an evil capitalist because you pay them low wages! You must pay them MORE, but you also may not employ them, we want them to be on the streets, but we don't want the police to stop them.

This is not insanity, the Mexican government is paying for it, not us, and it's for the benefit of their citizens. Why is it insanity that people who are here should learn english and math?

Cont...

We wait for them to commit crimes and then we fill our jails with them, we will not *deport* them, because we must *punish* them for their crimes (besides, we may not ask them to show their citizenship status). But *you*, evil capitalist employers, how dare you give them jobs!! So what if they showed IDs and SS cards, you *knew* they were probably illegal!

Then Arizona passes a law that permits police to ask for IDs, and the entire country from the President to NYT is up in arms: how dare you ask for IDs, they must not be disturbed!

Bottom line is: It all started with employing illegals. Agri was torn down, R' SM vilified, the Governor of Iowa announced that Agri must be investigated until they find some dirt on them, then they must prosecute to the utmost degree. Even now, when they run out of steam on the financial conviction they quickly point back to the *illegals* as the proof that this man is just "an all around criminal". A Jewish "sheister" and "fraudster" (new favorite code-word) of the highest order, and he must be burnt at the stake.

We can do whatever we want with these illegals, but how dare you give them jobs!!! Moral crime! Shame on the Jews!

Never mind that. Howes about raiding the college classroom and hauling their carcarcas back to whence they came illegally. And bringing the school up on immigration charges.

But when you arrived in the U.S. sixty years ago you did it LEGALLY. You were LEGAL immigrants and we welcome and encourage all legal immigrants. But these law breakers are here ILEGALLY. That's why they call them ILEGAL IMMIGRANTS. They should stay in their own countries and apply for legal immigration just as you did.

Let us please put one very important thing into perspective. The people call them what you wish, they all committed a crime and violated US law. They are illegal aliens. Period end of story. Allow me to point out a very disturbing fact, anyone entering Mexico illegally is committing a felony punishable by imprisonment. In the United States illegal immigration is a misemeanor punishable by free school, free medical care, free housing, free everything and if your caught a free ticket back to your country. Where are we going wrong? Am I the only one in this country that see what is happening here? All the Obamination wants is to gain an additional 12 million illegal votes. Stop the rape of American. This country was founded and built by the blood, sweat & tears of immigrants, LEGAL immigrants who were given nothing nor asked for anything except a chance to work. I fully support immigration, LEGAL immigration that is, I also support as should all law abiding Americans the strict enforcement of our immigration laws & security of our borders. Have we all forgot about taxation with representation? Todays liberals & illegals want representation without taxation. Stand up for American.

There you have it, the hypocrisy. They very much have to do with the other. A college announces courses for illegals (apparently so they can be productive members of society in the U.S.), that's considered OK, nay, a beautiful thing! Yet when employers give them jobs, where they can actually make a living, now *that's a crime*! Mind you, the employers pay taxes on them.

It's not that I'm for illegals. But the gov can't have it both ways. To allow someone in to your country, not stop them, make it illegal to ask them for papers, etc, but then prosecute employers who give them jobs, that's hypocrisy and that sounds like the ways of Sodom.

Wrong on multiple counts. Being in the US without a proper visa is usually not a crime, it is a civil violation, like a traffic ticket. And many "illegal immigrants" entered the US legally and just overstayed their visas. (Any Mexican citizen without a criminal record can visit the US legally -- for business, education, or just tourism.)

NAFTA destroyed the agricultural sector of Mexico. It was the height of arrogance to create a free market in goods and capital but not labor; most of these "illegal immigrants" would have been perfectly happy to stay in Mexico but they are now facing starvation. Can we really be so heartless?

Also, "illegal immigrants" pay more taxes than they receive in benefits.

Actually, this is consistent with the law. Any adult Mexican citizen can come to the US to take college classes. There are essentially no restrictions on the numbers. However, they can't work except through education-related work-study or similar programs, and in many cases an employer who illegally hires such a person has committed a crime.

Anyone can register who meets the prerequisites. And according to current immigration law, citizens of any country can come to the US to enroll in college courses. In many graduate programs, there are almost no US citizens enrolled today.

as long as they have applied for & received the proper visa, if not they are here illegally, if they do not renew, are denied renewal or don't return to their country at the end of their student visa they are here illegally and should be deported!

Good thing you are not the illegals attorney, because once you over stay your visa with out renewal you have committed a crime, albeit a misdemeanor but still a violation of federal law. Once you cross the border without going through US immigration and customs and without a visa you are committing a crime. And yes I can be so heartless why not look at the statistics illegal immigrants use more resources than most homeless American citizens, medical care alone is in the hundreds of millions of $$, the educational costs for school districts are astounding. And the down fall of this country is bleeding heart liberals like you. I am not aginst immigration just illegal immigration. And most illegals get paid in cash so they do't pay one cent in taxes. Your are trult a mis-informed Moron.

Oh, that's right LEGAL immigration. Do you mean arrive through Ellis Island on a boat? ... Can you imagine all the people that would have survived in the 40's if the government didn't have such tough immigration policies? I'm sure if Poland had been a neighbor of the U.S. in the 40's you would have seen what you see now with Mexicans.
