Jerusalem - Livni: Netanyahu Bows To Excessive Charedi Demands |
|
Jerusalem - As opposed to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Kadima has never bowed to the excessive demands of the ultra-Orthodox parties, Opposition leader Tzipi Livni said Monday.
Speaking at a Kadima faction meeting, the chairwoman her party has “said no” to the haredi parties in the past in matters concerning the “fate of the country.”
Livni continued to say that “the issue here is not the haredim; the issue at hand is politics that take advantage of a terrible system and a weak politician.”
This state of affairs, according the Kadima leader, has resulted in a situation whereby “women have been pushed to the back of the bus, emergency rooms are not being built and the core subjects are not being studied.
“When I spoke to Bibi about a possible partnership, he said, ‘I’m already committed to Shas’,” she said in an apparent reference to the post-election coalition negotiations. “This is not just about abusing the system, it’s about the Likud (party) and what it has become – Likud has sold its national agenda to haredi politics.”
According to Livni, “Everyone suffers from this situation; all those who care about Judaism in the national sense, not just the religious one. This stance is not anti-religious or anti-haredi. This stance places the concern for the future of our society above everything else. This issue has not topped the PM’s list of priorities.”

First yesterday the Mayor of Tel Aviv insults Ultra-Orthodox and now Livni reverts to the bashing of the religious parties as Ben Gurion, Dayan , Rabin, Meir and Peres always did to win the votes . Create hatred and sinas chinom for the secular toward the religious sector of the country. Accommodation is not favoritism, and the religous sector now serves in the Army so these zionist jew haters cannot claim the old anti-religous claim regarding the
army. Livi again is spewing the "parasite" label that Labor spewed the last twenty years.
Livni does not address that recent polls have shown 80% of israeli firms will not hire Chareidim!! Also 30 families control 65% of the economy. Livni is a typical fear monger and spreads venom like her predecessors. Let her ask herself, who is populating the country? who is growing in service in all ranks of the army? She is a disgrace to her people like the other Labor zionists who killed and sold tghousands of yemenite children for money!

"religous parties" should not exist! there is no such thing as true liberty as long as religion is involved. we should be given the right to practice freely, but NOTHING more.

The vast majority of chareidim do not serve int he army or do service and 65% of the men do not work. The anti-government language on this and other sites is is terrible. Accommodation is not the same as telling the chilonim what to do. So how is your statement true?

When will peopole wake up and realize that the chareidim are endangering the country. As the chareidi population grows the goverment will be forced to direct security funds towards subsidizing the lifestyle of the chareidim. I love chareidim and I am one myself but the only answer to the problem is strict quotas in the Yeshivas. The roshei yeshiva nust have a limit to how many bochurim are allowed to be in the yeshiva and exempt from the army. In this way, the underpreformers and lazy bums will have to get thrown out and join the army. (I am not sure if it in the army's best interest to recruit lazy bums). The only way to preserve our am hakadosh and derech hayoshar is to limit the size of the chareidi (learning only and non working) demographic.

It took Europeans 1 thousand years to figure out that religious factions controlling societies and politics of states brought them nothing but strife. It is the reason why they shiver any time a topic of religion is brought up to them.
Israel urgently needs reform heir political process. They need to abandon a parliamentary system for a regional representative government like in the U.S.

The good news is.. With Hashem's grace, Moshiach will be coming very soon, and as the great tzaddikim have predicted, Moshiach will take back Eretz Yisroel for the Yidden from the arabs.. not the Zionist!

Truth be told; Likud is a sell out not to the Charadim but to labor, NIF (peace now) and possibly Obama. The people have spoken and want a (center) Right government without Labor and Kadima.

You're all missing the undercurrent. Here's my conspiracy theory: Rahm Emanuel's Father was a member of Etze"L (a/k/a Irgun). So was Tzipy Livni's father. (Look it up on Wikipedia if you like). Rahm's just maneuvering to help Tzipy.

“ Guess what Tzipi: they are CITIZENS. ”
No, according to Miriam Webster: Citizen-a native or naturalized person who OWES ALLEGIANCE TO A GOVERNMENT and is entitled to protection from it.

I do not know who this lady "Miriam Webster" is (unless you mean Merriam Webster the dictionary publishers) but the government, not some dictionary writer, decides what a citizen is. Last time I checked, neither the U.S. or the government of Israel can deny protection to any group of citizens on the basis of political opinions of some individuals.

So what if both of their fathers were in the Irgun? My father also was, and I strongly oppose the two of them. In fact, I'd bet that their own fathers would condemn the politics of their children.

Im not talking about their differences in political opinions, every country has its politics. Part of being a citizen is contributing something tangible to society, whether it be protecting the borders or working and paying taxes. But to have a group of people sitting on their "zitz fliesh" (learning torah) all day and contributing little to any social circle except for their own, a country cannot function like this.
Definition: Parasite-a person who receives support, advantage, or the like, from another or others without giving any useful or proper return, as one who lives on the hospitality of others.

I actually agree with her.
This past year alone we've seen radical Charedi Rabbis disrupting archeological sites, and not getting in trouble, we've seen a Charedi mother with Munchausen syndrome by-proxy attempt to starve her child, and not get in trouble, we've seen violent Charedi attacks, with no arrests made, we've seen dead bodies stolen, that died under mysterious circumstances and the police not only didn't arrest the perpetrators, they negotiated with them!
We've witnessed crime, corruption, thievery, violence and maybe even murder being committed by Charedim and no one gets in any trouble! This is very wrong!

You are right on all your points, however we must also admit that the way our (charedi) system works as of now we cannot survive. Those who learn must learn - really learn, and the rest must find a way to integrate into the general economy with prior Army service something along the lines of the "Neeman" plan tabled a number of years ago.
We must reach out and stop this from becoming a 'milchemet achim" chas vesholom,
