Israel – Yahoo, which runs the weather application for the Apple iPhone, has removed Jerusalem from the list of cities, and replaced it instead with both East Jerusalem and West Jerusalem.

Yes, Yahoo’s weather application has taken it upon itself to divide Jerusalem.
Users of the pre-installed iPhone application must now choose between West Jerusalem and East Jerusalem to get the weather for the city, following a change that went into effect over the weekend.
“It’s ridiculous,” one Israeli Canadian iPhone user told Shalom Life. “But they wanted to be recognized as a separate state, so in this way they are. It’s just unnecessary.”
As expected, the temperature information for both options is identical, as are the latitude and longitude coordinates.
Ynet is reporting that Israel’s Ambassador to the United States Michael Oren sent a letter of protest to Apple CEO Steve Jobbs and Yahoo CEO Carol Bartz.
Oren noted that he was an enthusiastic user of Apple products and that the rest of the embassy workers used the iPhone, and expressed his disappointment and surprise over the fact that “Jerusalem, which has been united for 43 years, has been divided by the computer giant and the popular search engine.”
yahoo also divides NYC by zip codes and boroughs so lets stop making a big tzimmes over these symbolic issues.
Yeh but itsthe same exact weather so why split it up?

I tried to obtain the weather for Jerusalem on Yahoo on line and
they do not have that either, we can not let them become the
proxy for the world that hates us.

Who doesn’t refer nowadays to east jerusalem as east jerusalem?
This issue is completely different from a zip code area division. Jerusalem is Jerusalem. There is no reason to suddenly make this change. I am truly disappointed in Apple, and until now have been a good customer of their products.
I protest Yahoo splitting up the weather. Leave the weather to G-d. Science shoudl not meddle in everything.

On the Yahoo website the weather is provided by the weather.com service, which is the Weather Channel, owned by NBC Universal. They list “Palestinian Occupied Territories” as one of the areas for the weather. This is also terrible. They get to decide what is occupied and they say it is Palestinian?
By the way there are other weather apps for iphone which you can use, such as accuweather which does not divide Yerushalayim and does not list palestine

Use zip codes for Jerusalem! You realize, Jerusalem is a civilized nation, not like other countries. So, as you say – GO WITH ZIP CODES!

It’s like giving the weather a parking lot of six flags and a seperate weather forcast for the actual six flags.
This is “stam” simply looking to provoke controversy.
Its bound to get hotter in east Jerusalem anyway, since the arabs are so hot under the collar about the Gaza flotilla
The main issue is that yahoo has described it as East Jerusalem, West Bank already deciding that this is NOT a unified city since West Jerusalem is identified as being in Israel
A protest should be made so that this is picked up by at least fox news
