Many parts of the region awoke to temperatures in the low 80s. The heat and humidity could combine to make it feel like 105 degrees Monday.

A heat advisory is in effect for all of New York City until 7 p.m. on Monday.

An excessive heat warning is in effect until 8 p.m. in Mercer, Gloucester, Camden and northwest Burlington counties in New Jersey.

A heat advisory is posted from noon to 5 p.m. for Middlesex, Monmouth, Salem, Ocean, Cumberland, Atlantic, Cape May and southeast Burlington counties in New Jersey.

The National Weather Service says a cold front could produce scattered thunderstorms later Monday. Cooler air will arrive Tuesday and it should remain comfortable until hot weather returns by July Fourth.

Also PLEASE” don’t forget the little ones in the car or in the street, they suffer from the heat just like us but they can’t help themselves.

Don’t forget to check on your elderly neighbors (of any denomination). If they don’t have a.c. and you do, invite them into your home. Make sure your elderly relatives are staying hydrated.

Isn’t the school year over? Rather than air conditioning the busses and the schools, it seems like they may opt to end the school year earlier.

How did the American Indians (Native Americans) survive very frigid winters and very hot summers, without central heating and central air-conditioning? They managed, and did not complain!
