Washington - The White House is rolling out the red carpet ahead of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s Tuesday visit to Washington as President Obama tries to smooth over tensions and move forward on Israeli-Palestinian peace talks.

The prime minister is expected to get a very different welcome than the one he received back in March.

This time, he’ll stay at the official White House guest residence, the Blair House, as opposed to a hotel. The two leaders will also hold a photo op—unlike last time, when no pictures were released and no formal statement was issued after a pair of closed-door meetings at the White House. That meeting, which yielded no agreement, came after Israel announced new apartments in disputed east Jerusalem in the middle of Vice President Biden’s visit and triggered a stand-off with the White House.

The Obama administration is looking to move past that when Netanyahu arrives. Though the deadly Israeli raid on a Gaza-bound aid flotilla in May drew fresh attention to Israel’s blockade policy, even that issue has been sidelined. The White House meeting Tuesday is expected to focus on how to move to direct peace talks with the Palestinians, which Netanyahu has been calling for.

“The only way to successfully complete a negotiation as complicated as this is to have the two parties, Israel and the Palestinians, sit opposite one another and directly negotiate these complex issues together,” Netanyahu said.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas says he will only begin direct talks if the issue of borders for a future Palestinian state is settled. In exchange, he’s willing to discuss a way to address Israel’s security concerns.

Analysts say the White House appears to believe the red carpet treatment will lead to better results.

“Perhaps the president was not as aware that he needs to maintain the semblance of good relations with Israel and the Israeli prime minister, especially if he wants Israeli public opinion to participate in moving the peace process forward,” said Chemi Shalev, political analyst for the Israeli newspaper Yisrael Hayom. “I think there is a bit of a second thought, and they are trying to put a best face forward and start a new stage in the relationship.”

Israel did make a significant change to its blockade policy ahead of the meeting. The country on Monday ended restrictions on consumer goods into the Gaza Strip. Asked whether Netanyahu might go further and extend a 10-month construction ban on Jewish homes in the West Bank—land Palestinians want for a future state—a senior Israeli official said, “No, the government’s position has not changed.”

The ban is set to expire Sept. 26. Failure to reach a mutual understanding on the issue could lead to worsening relations between the White House and Israel.

The Israeli official told Fox News that during the meeting, Netanyahu will also ask for more sanctions on Iran beyond those recently passed by the United Nations and United States.

Money talks. The cutoff of donations by some Jewish contributors to the Democratic Party has led Obama to show a different face. But don't be fooled. This will only be good through the November elections. After that, it's back to pro-Arab policies.

You do realize that saudi arabia is also a an ally of the US and the oil they give is much more valuable then anything Israel could hope to give. That is why the US will push for peace.

This is just a set up to force an extension of the building freeze. Hopefully Bibi will stand strong, but I doubt he will. His past history shows that he doesn't stand up to the pressure of the White House very well. It's sad to say but the U.S. is not a true ally of Israel with Obama and his henchmen ( especially the "court Jews" in his adminstration) in power. Obama will apply tremendous pressure, he plays hard ball, and will do anything to bring Israel to her needs. HaShem should give Bibi the strength to stand up for his people and his country.

I do not blame him, he's just what he was taught to be. Who I blame is the Jews that voted for him. Who I blame is Hillary Clinton who doesn't pass up a chance to double talk Israel.

Which ones? The ones from Williamsburg or their enemies from Monroe? Or will both groups be there to fight each other and make another Chilul Hashem?
Let's analyze who is worse for Jews and Yiddishkeit? Netanyahu, who is a Tinok Shenishbu, or the Satmar groups, who go to court against each other, violating a fundamental principle in Shulchan Orech, that Jews should not go to non-Jewish courts and that whoever does so is a denier of Torah Moshe? What's Satmar's excuse for being a denier of Toras Moshe. Satmar wants Netanyahu to abide by the Shulchan Orech, but Satmar doen't have to. Hypocrisy, thy name is Satmar.

Obama does not support defensible borders. He wants Israel to give up all of the West Bank. Moreover, what is a defensible border when the enemy is oput to destroy you, and Obama knows this.

What do you mean "returned" to the Palestinians. Israel captured the West Bank from Jordan. The Palestinians never had that territory. It's amazing how our people can be taken in by propaganda. Is it any wonder that the Europeans are taken in by it?

While I am sure that Obama's intentions are to broker a just and lasting peace, his policy on the Middle East is, in Sen. Schumer's words, "counterproductive." His continuous pressure on Israel has hardened the position of the Arabs. Never before Obama took office did the Palestinians say that they would have not negotiate directly with Israel. However, after Obama started his hysteria about settlements, the Palestinians said they would not negotiate directly with Israel. Since he has taken office, they have named public squares in the West Bank after terrorists and Abbas has publicly praised suicide bombers. He knows he can get away with it, with Obama in the White House. He continues to teach the children in his schools the vilest lies about Israel and Jews. The schooling is reminiscent of the Nazis. Yet, Obama believes that the settlements, which constitute only 10% of the West Bank (most of which is entirely uninhabited), is an obstacle to peace. The biggest obstacle is a population that is taught that Jews are subhuman, but you don't hear a word from Obama about that. If Obama does not reverse policy, he will not only not attain peace, he will assure another war.

If you believe that the settlements are blocking peace, then you are naive beyond hope. The settlements comprise 10% of the territory of the West Bank. Do you really believe that the Arabs consider this to be a problem. The real problem is that the Arabs will not accept Israel's right to exist. Although they claim they do when they are speaking to Western media, in their own media, they call for the murder of all Jews.
If settlements were removed, they would not change their attitude.

The problem with the 2 state solution is that the Arabs believe in a one state solution - an Arab state. Despite the fact that they tell Western leaders and the Western media that they accept Israel's right to exist, their own media reports that they say that the 2 state solution is just temporary - it is a step toward the elimination of Israel. This is what they tell their own people.

Just a few days ago Obama tricked Israel.

He showed the Israelis a copy of a draft of the nuclear nonproliferation treaty which for 62 years Israel has refused to sign. To do so would obligate them to give up their atomic weapons. The US always backed them up.

After he showed them the contract, Obama had language inserted which obligated Israel to sign and face the consequences.

He's no friend of Israel or Yidn bikhlal.
