Jerusalem - Charedi Leadership Considering a Reduction in Protests after Accident |
|

Two people were seriously injured in a traffic accident when haredi rioters pushed a trash bin onto a Jerusalem highway, into which the motorcyclist and his passenger collided
Jerusalem - The haredi leadership is considering a significant reduction in or complete prohibition against holding protests after a trash bin shoved onto Route 1 during a Jerusalem demonstration seriously injured a motorcyclist and his passenger.
Following the road accident Wednesday, criticism against the rallies within the haredi community has increased, especially since extremist elements in the Eda Haredit commit acts of vandalism and violence during them.
Businessmen within the community are also concerned by the lack of control over what goes on during the rallies. Among other things, efforts are being made to hold an emergency meeting between the businessmen and police representatives in order to discuss the situation.
Two people were seriously injured in a traffic accident when haredi rioters pushed a trash bin onto a Jerusalem highway, into which the motorcyclist and his passenger collided.
More than 200 haredim rioted in protest against the ongoing construction in Jaffa which they claim is desecrating graves on the site. During the demonstration, they clashed with police and threw stones at them.

This has to stop. Instead of protesting they should learn Torah or work. Most of these hooligans are young uneducated males who are just bored. Where are their leaders? They are causing a Chilul Hashem and turn off most fair minded Yidden.

Finally they acting up. We all see the pictures of the protest in Jerusalem the last few years, these people behave like thugs in Harlem. Protesting peacefully vs rioting with violence or damaging property are two different things.

Its about time they decided to stop the thugs from their criminal ways. They are not allowed to do such disgraceful things just because they are called chareidi. Frum people should show the world how to act like mentchin instead of thugs. Some people have a notion that because I'm religious and doing it in the name of religion, its a mitzva. Just wait till they find out that they so called mitzvos were nothing more than pure damage and are punished for their wild acts.

Its about time they make it ossur to hold these demonstrations. Probably happened because they got hurt where it hurts most. i.e. finances. My guess is that some business people finally took a stand and stopped funding their moisdois until they stop the demonstrations. chillul Hashem won't stop them because they are fundamentalist and are beyond such intangible imaginary considerations. but when their funding is stopped then they wake up and smell the coffee.

When will they stop digging out ancient kevorim?. I agree this violence has to be controlled. But when will the Israeli authorities start listening / having dialogue with the chareidi communities? Until now, this was the ONLY way the authorities listened. It goes both ways.

The title of the piece "Charedi Leadership Considering a Reduction in Protests after Accident" is quite ironic. Because if there was any real Chareidi leadership, then there never would be such protests, whose only outcomes have been Chillul Hashem and Baal Tashchis, and now obviously personal injury.

Au Contraire!
If, in fact, the protests are stopped or significantly reduced, it would effectively be an admission that the Chareidi leadership DOES have the power to rein them in, but has heretofore chosen to not do so!

The demonstrations have nothing to do with graves. בטלה מביא לידי חטא
Since it is "ossur" to work or go to the army or to visit a ice cream store there is nothing else to do. כל תורה שאין עמה מלאכה סופה בטלה וגוררת עון and I know that we can find a nice drasha to explain that Mishna and turn it upside down.
I suggest closing off that entire area putting a fence around the מזיקים and we will send them care packages with plenty of penuts.

The real Kivrei tzadikim that were moved was in on Aza. The Charadim voted to have yeshovot, shuls, 10,000 jewish strong communities destoyoed. The Charadim voted to have Kivrei tzadikim in Aza to be destroyed they refuse to stand side by side with the Dati Leumi and protect the 49 Kivrei tzadikim graves in Aza (yes some of them were IDF).

Why is it an accident, this was intentional hashchosa & heizik. Who gave anyone permission to light a garbage bin, that is gezel & heizik , one is chayov al pi halacha.
They pushed it into the road, granted there may not have been aidim & hasroah, let us hope the injured get a refua sheleima, but had they killed someone, they may not have had the opertunity to run to the orei miklat. I won't outright pasken this.
I see no reason why the responsible should not stand trial, & have to pay the Hey devorim.
I also see no reason why they should not be criminally prosecuted for attempted murder. BTW no Rabonim were ever matir terorrism, or violence.
We will be seeing Kol koreihs & pidyon shevuyim signs, for those who were unable to flle the crime scene, BTW those who did flee still owe damages al pi halocha, and should own up if they have any yiras shomayim, which I guess we already know how much they may have.

This "reduction in protests" is a chareidi tactical ploy to get everyone off their back since they almost murdered two people. The close call doesn't make them think for a second that it was a bad thing to do, it's just that this time they were unlucky. Witness some of the comments above that ignore the criminality of their brothers' behavior. When the storm dies down they will go back to their carefully controlled hooliganism. You can't expect more from ignorant holier than thou fools and their equally ignorant and foolish leaders.

Even if there is no other way to stop the grave robbers, that doesn't permit doing things which are equally forbidden (like causing a massive chillul Hashem). If there is nothing we can do, we're exempt.

Since when has violent demonstration become the Jewish way? Recently there are more and more parallels to the muslims. Violence, death threats, filthy neighbourhoods, beating people up and all in the name of God! Also it's strange how the majority of demonstrations are usually about Shabbos or graves. The best way to encourage someone to respect and appreciate the beauty of Shabbos is by demonstrating it's beauty, not demonstrating with violence. Secondly what is the obsession with death? Of course kvod hames is important, but more than the living? If abused children would receive a fraction of the support that (possibly Jewish) graves receive everyone would be living a happier life. In this unfortunate case the living were brought slightly closer to death by those purporting to care about human dignity.
When the path you've taken in life is starting to develop similarities with death mongers then you know something is seriously wrong. ובחרת בחיים למען תחיה

If they find it important to protest let them have an empty track of land and hold signs and walk around in a circle and yell and scream about the latest problem that is bothering them and not put anyone else in danger. Last year I spoke to people who lived in Geula and they got sick from the smoke from burning garbage and were frightened to go out and couldn't sleep at night because of all the noise.

I definitely agree with the cause, but I don't agree with the protests. The fact is that the Israeli government is very stubborn and it is not giving in even with all the protests, so what exactly is the point?
We cannot compare these protests to the Emmanuel protests because ALL the Chareidim protested then, peacefully and also not every day. And the main thing there was a "compromise" which let the Chareidi come out the main winners while for the Bagatz appearing like they won - which is what they really wanted.
In this case it's neverending and violent. Enough. These protests will not help any bones. What really needs to be done is to get involved in taking out ads in big Israeli papers asking the same question as a poster above, what people would say would they dig out IDF bones and that the Chareidi are out to honor all people's graves regardless of their religious affiliation and this should be of public concern as well. Also trying to engage in discusson with the Israeli gov. so that they have a chance to climb down from their high post while saving grace is most important. Going into confrontation and battle just makes one huge war with no winners.
