Washington – Robert Gibbs: There’s No Doubt Democrats Could Lose Control of House

Washington – President Obama’s top spokesman admitted Sunday there’s “no doubt” Democrats could lose their grip over the House of Representatives in this fall’s elections.

“I think there is no doubt there are enough seats in play – that could cause Republicans to gain control. There’s no doubt about that,” White House press secretary Robert Gibbs told NBC’s “Meet the Press.”

The talking point from the always-scripted Gibbs seemed calculated to scare swing voters and fire up the party’s somewhat dispirited grass-roots activist base for the fall campaign by raising the specter that the political right could seize the House. Republicans also stand to chip away at the Democrats’ 59-seat Senate majority.

Obama’s poll numbers have sagged as he has tried to wrestle with a snail-paced economic recovery, a still-controversial health care reform plan, the early bungling of the Gulf of Mexico oil spill disaster and a costly war in Afghanistan.

The Justice Department’s suit last week to block Arizona’s controversial law to catch illegal immigrants also has Democratic lawmakers in the West worried.

Democratic governors voiced worry about the political impact of the suit in a private meeting with White House officials over the weekend, The New York Times reported Sunday night.

But Attorney General Eric Holder said on “Face the Nation” Sunday that the government might file a second suit if there is evidence of racial profiling in Arizona.

Gibbs said the Democrats will have to fight hard to maintain a House majority.

To those who call Obama’s record so far a disappointment, especially on the economy, Gibbs said: “The car’s out of the ditch, the car’s back on the road. The question is, are you going to give the keys back to the Republicans and let them drive it back into the ditch again?”

One top Republican said Obama is wrong to lay fault “at the foot of President Bush.”

“You can’t blame President Bush for everything,” Sen. Jon Kyl (R-Ariz.) said on “Fox News Sunday.”

Democrats now hold a 255-to-178 edge in the House, with two vacancies in the 435-member chamber.

Analysts say 40 to 60 House seats could be in play by fall.

Republicans would need to take back about 40 seats to reclaim the majority and oust House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.).

It’s like when the weather-man says there is a “50 % percent chance of rain today”.

In simple words, it simply means that “maybe it will rain and maybe it will not”, something we all knew before hearing forecast, but this way the, weather-man or political analyzer, can never be wrong.

This country needs a Republican backlash. Nothing short of that will get Obama and his circle of clowns to take a second look at the destruction they are heaving upon us. The current train is wrecking, and it has nothing at all to do with Bush. We are all tired of watching stupid, socialist policies be implemented, ramrodded through Congress, and the resulting havoc blamed on Bush. NO MORE! We need to be rid of every Democrat that supports this direction, and the ballot box is the place to accomplish that. Can Obama be a leader without the blind, deaf, and dumb robots who follow his political leanings? He certainly has zero leadership history. Can anyone succeed in re-establishing the true friendship and support of Israel and the War on Terror? I think we need the ballot box to prove to him that he is accelerating down the road of failure. REMEMBER IN NOVEMBER.

They’re finally beginning to see the writing on the wall.

    America wants leadership. VOTE REPUBLICAN.

Now if only we can convince some of our community leaders to vote for the good of the country not just the good of their individual wallets. Wake up. Government money always comes with strings attached

Electing a majority of republicans will still not get Obama impeached.

We will still be stuck with Obama, only that he will not be able to run so wild and loose and out of control, since the republicans will make Obama’s stupidity, DOA.

But that is effective strangulation of the entire country, being deadlocked and strangled and going no place at all, until Obama’s term is eventually over.

Who is to be blamed for us having elected Obama?

The Republicans are to blame for us having Obama now.

Because it was the Republicans, ;lack of providing a viable candidate which lead the country to choose “a fool” over and “old geezer”, neither of whom had any capabilities at leadership.

I don’t think Republicans can have a long term impact to turn this country around. This country is already buried in deep liberalism, socialism, 21 century communism, there is no turning around.

With our country so in debt, how can the Republicans get us out of this rut? Maybe they’ll put a bandage on with some spending cuts, but this country is too far gone to get a complete healing.
Also let’s not forget that Bush almost bled America to death with his unecessary war with Iraq.
