Moshe Menora, of Skokie, IL an experienced pilot, and Chief Executive of Tri-United Management in Chicago, was taking four visiting Israeli grandchildren from Beit Shemesh on a day trip when his plane malfunctioned and crashed after refueling in St. Ignace, Michigan.

VIN News has confirmed that Menora and his three granddaughters, Rikki Menora, 17, Racheli Menora, 15 and Sara Klein, 17, all died in the crash.

13 year old Yossi Menora was ejected from the plane when it split in half upon impact and suffered serious burns. He is at a downstate burn unit, where he is currently undergoing surgery. His father, who was doing business in Florida at the time of the crash is en route to Chicago.

Airport officials say the plane was taking off just after 5:10 p.m. when it crashed 100 feet off the end of the runway and immediately burst into flames.
Southbound lanes of I-75 at exit 348 were shut down for several hours while crews cleaned-up the crash.

Moshe Menora is survived by his wife Sema, his son Sholom and his daughters Miriam Schreiber and Kelly Klein.

The Menora family has asked the public to please daven for Netanel Yosef ben Simcha Sima.

The Misaskim organization is heavily involved in this incident, working closely with the NTSB and local authorities to ensure proper Kavos Haniftar is given. Additionally, they are in contact with the Israeli Consulate, and the ZAKA Organization in Eretz Yisroel.

How tragic that so many of our greatest philantropists have been taken from us in tragic circumstances recently:

    Dunner
    Saba
    Obstfeld
    Menora
    (Rubashkin)

This is definitely a strong signal from above. I just someone would tell us what the signal means.

I’ve read about this horrible accident on a few sites tonigt and not one person has correct information….
My shver is head of the chevra kadisha in Chicago. The boy is in a hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The bodies are going to a coroner in Grand Rapids, Michigan to be identified through medical records.
Neither Misaskim or Zaka is at the scene, police will not let anyone near the bodies yet. My shver and husband will probably be making the drive up there as soon as they can take the bodies.

What a horrible, terrible tragedy, to lose all of these youngster and generations of Yidden that they would have produced.

This is not the first time a small plane flown by Yidden has crashed. Perhaps in the future these flights should be avoided to save other lives.
