Tel Aviv - Two people were killed on Wednesday in a shooting incident in southern Tel Aviv. The police believe one of the victims shot the other and then committed suicide.

Both victims, apparently observant Jews, one is 19 years old from Jerusalem, the other is 31 years old from Rishon Letzion.

A Magen David Adom emergency medical team arrived at the scene following reports of a vehicle that had hit a bench. However, when the team arrived, they discovered the two victims sitting in their car, both of them suffering from several gunshot wounds.

One of the two victims was killed instantly and the other was in critical condition, and later succumbed to his wounds at the entrance to Ichilov hospital in Tel Aviv.

Paramedic Ron Yitzhaki, who arrived first at the scene, told Haaretz that “we received a traffic accident call. When I got there I saw two young men, not breathing with no pulse, inside the vehicle. We removed both the victims from the vehicle and began resuscitation attempts.”

The police said that a gun was found in the vehicle along with the victims.

One of the two victims is the son of a prominent Haredi family. Representatives of the Eda Haredit who came to the scene said the two had known each other for years, and one would drive the other around after his friend’s license was revoked.

A source in the ultra-Orthodox Eda Haredit said Wednesday that “this is a very big story for us. No one knows what led to this event. They knew each other for years, they were friends, they never made problems. Very strange what happened.”

Dear Bubby,
Outside of the Torah world, there are actually very scientific, technical and brilliant Jews serving humanity in a variety of professions, including forensic analysis. I am sure that Israeli crime scene analysts know very well how to do their job and if there was a third person possibility, that would be investigated. Leave it up to the experts.

Chareidi is derived from the word Choreid.like Va-yech rad Yitzchock. Basically meaning very G-d fearing.
When a Newspaper writes Chareidi-Gay, a contradiction we wonder Ummm?
It reminds me of the story I heard as a kid. A poilsher Yid gave his son 100 Zlatin bill, and asked him to buy him a newspaper. The boy came home, and gave his father the paper & 50 zlatin change. The father asked his son, how come you only gave me 50 Zlatin the paper says it has a 5 Zlatin price on it, please give me the other 45 Zlatin. The boy replied Daddy everything it says in the paper you believe?
What Journalism has fallen too.
Last week they had a story of 2 Hillel [chozrim Besheailah] boys smuggelling drugs, they also called them Chareidi.
I wonder how Israeli Newspapers define Chareidi, i hope they don't mean me.

If members of the Eda Haredit knew them and if one of them is the son of a respected Chareidi family --both claims made by the article -- then one can assume that these boys were chareidi. Not only did the Eda Haredit who were at the scene know the boys, they knew that one had lost his driver's license and that the other drove him around. This shows personal knowledge of the boys' habits. I'm sure it's distressing to hear such news about chareidim but it does no good to refuse to see the truth.

Yes, people, of course there are charedim who are gay. And there are gay people who are charedim. One of the most famous charedim of the old Yishuv was gay. Like anyone with a yetzer horo, some manage to control it all the time and some don't. Some form relationships, which while far from ideal may help them keep from straying in other directions; not only can they be mechazek each other in mitzvos in general, they can also minimize the issurim that they do together.

There are also charedim who do other averos, in response to their respective yetzarim ro'im. There are charedim who have affairs, charedim who steal, charedim who occasionally sneak in some treif when nobody but Hashem is looking, etc. Charedim are humans like anyone else; what distinguishes them is their commitment to doing the right thing, whether they succeed or fail.

None of which proves that these two people were either gay or frum, let alone both. All we know is that one of them was from a charedi family; that doesn't tell us anything about where he stood. And about the other one we know even less. This is all speculation piled upon speculation, and nothing anyone says is more than a wild guess.

It's very sad that so many people seem to be more concerned with whether or not these young men were chareidi and whether or not they were gay (and trying to distance themselves from them if they were gay, which inevitably some percentage of the chareidi population is) than the fact that two young lives are tragically lost and two families are suffering.

If they wore the chareidi levish and had a beard and payos then they were chareidi, regardless of how they behaved and what their beliefs were, when a Journalist sees a person like that he/she sees a Chareidi.

Obviously, neither the names nor the pictures of the victims are in accordance with them belonging to "Eda Charedit families".
In fact, one of the boys stems from a yerushalmi family, but has absolutely nothing with Eida, the second one was an often visitor to yerushalayim, and has been seen on the streets, but he and his family are very far from Eida charedis.

you people are something else...awhile back you all cried because a Jewish murderer of a girl(ranger?)was given death.Oh how you cried for the murderer and now so sadly these two ended up in such a horrible situation.Yet you are more concerned about their orientation and level of frumkeit...THIS IS WHY MOSHIACH hasn't come.No one seems to mourn the two lives regardless of the details. It's horrible.

It seems to me that the people are mourning them and are not interested seeing the reputations being dragged through the mud needlessly.

I am sorry but to all the commentators who cry that pple are worried about these people being shomer Torah- YES it does make a difference because if they had left the "path" the sad part is when they left the path! It's true that its sad no matter if they were Shomer Torah or not, but you can't compare the death of a private to the death of a general! I am if the truth hurts!

Who said "Chasidim"? The article says observant, and you conclude chasidim.

Go to YEDIOT ACHRONAT & you can see the full picture of both of them & they sure are Chassidisha Bochurim . A matter of a fact, they were very close friends. Just go to Kol-Israel & then click Yediot Achronot & you will see in written the whole thing In IVRIT with picture from them with their Chassidish clothing . One of them happens to a RAV son . BD"E . HASHEM YISHMARAINU MEKOL TZURAH V'NIZVASA BESOROS TOVOS

they can tell if it was suicide by analogizing the gunshot wound it is called forensic science (i know some do not hold science as being accurate)

Gay not gay who cares two people probably made a suicide pact for whatever reason, and that is sad.

(maybe the newspaper had a tip from the gay community that knew them if true)

t being gay is not against the Torah, it is the act that is assur.
and if they were gay does that make it ok, and maybe they where attracted to each other but never did anything and the pain was to much.

for the commentators gay frum but frum ganov child molestor money lunderer you understand.

PS many of the child molesters being caught are with boys who where 16-17-15
THAT MAKES THEM GAY

So Haaretz now has scientific labs to do forensic science? They are capable of "analogizing" (sic) the evidence?

I can't figure out what you are saying in the last part of your comment. Are you saying you have a gay relationship with underage boys? That is illegal, besides being against the Torah.

don't jump to conclusions. Because Ha'aretz says that chareidim commited suicide it does not mean that its true. Ha'aretz is known to write anything to put a bad image on chareidim. Probably this was one possibility the cops brought up, and they made it as a fact.

Wow, Millehouse, this sentence really got to me: "Some form relationships, which while far from ideal may help them keep from straying in other directions." Are you saying that while it is "far from ideal" to be a faggot, things could be worse - like wearing a kipa sruga, chas v'chalilah. Are you saying it is better to be a faggot than to miss a shiyur in the kolel? You are truly defining a new form of liberalism.

Well said, Millhouse. Had you not posted your name I would have assumed it had been posted by the holy Bertitshever Rebbe (s'naigoron shel yisroel).
The most important thing is always to be malamed z'chus on all yidden and to constantly pray we are never tested with other people's nisyonos.

I don't know if it's the news teem or the cops, but someone is messing up this story! 1 who would call for a traffic accident when it was a murder (besides a freaked out murderer)? How can someone think a shooting is a traffic accident? 2- How can both of them have multiple gunshot wounds and it be a murder suicide? How many times can a guy shoot himself? 3 Religeous and gay? I don't know if each question is a question by itself, but when they are together it needs explanation!

it was a traffic accident because the car went out of control after the shooting.

a person can shoot himself 100 times without killing himself. it depends on where and how he was shot. also, not all fatal wound kill immediately, some take time to do their work.

"religeous" and gay? You don't even know how to spell religious, and the gay aspect is being reported only by morons like you. there was no mention of gay in the article.

If they wore the chareidi levish and had a beard and payos then they were chareidi, regardless of how they behaved and what their beliefs were, when a Journalist sees a person like that he/she sees a Chareidi.

And yet the two boys who were caught with the drugs were *not* wearing "levish", and had no beards or peyos, and yet the journalists called them charedi too.

This was a monetary dispute, nothing else.

I don't know about those things, but I'm pretty sure it's better, at least in some respects, to be gay than to call people "faggot".

Other charedi sites quote that one of them was 'addicted to Facebook' and showed pictures of his profile page and posts he wrote hours before the tragedy. Must i comment further? In case readers dont know, there are today many thousands of - (lets leave out the word chasidishe) charedi men and woman hooked and addicted to this terrible furnace of the yetzer hora called Facebook. Imagine if charedi men and woman, bochurim and girls would congrergate in pubs and make friends etc etc. Chas vesholem it has not happened and would not happen since the war in the torah'dige velt - but is actually happening every day. Internet is only eliminating the shame and embarrassment from people. Murder in the heimishe community? it is sadly no wonder if the first of the 3 aveiros is now bringing on us the second.
