(Bensonhurst – WABC, Nov. 14, 2006) – The pilot of a small plane made an unscheduled landing in a park the Bensonhurst section of Brooklyn Tuesday.

Officials say the plane landed in Dreier Offerman Park, off of the Belt Parkway and 27th Avenue, just before 10:45 a.m.
The pilot, Paul Dudley, was reportedly uninjured.

Officials say he was the only person on board.

Dudley told police he made “a precautionary landing” in the field.

Investigators say the plane, a Cessena 172, is registered to Dudley.

They say he was heading from Westhampton to the Linden Municipal Airport, where he is the director.

He reportedly said he had some engine trouble and needed to put the plane down on the nearest piece of flat ground he could find.

They say he safely landed the plane without any damage to the plane.

Dreier-Offerman Park is a 73-acre park near Coney Island. It has several ballfields popular with community leagues.
