His arrest is part of an ongoing investigation into Rabbi Yitzhak Shapira’s controversial book “Torat Hamelech,” which presents an halachic perspective on violence against non-Jews.

Previously detained Rabbi Elitzur Hershkovitz was scheduled to be brought before the Rishon Lezion Magistrate’s Court for a remand hearing later Thursday.

Dozens of rabbis, educators, public figures and right-wing activists attended on Wednesday a support rally for Rabbis Dov Lior and Yaakov Yosef, who refused to report for police questioning over their endorsement of the book.

The two, along with other rabbis and the author of the book, Rabbi Yitzhak Shapira, are being investigated on suspicion of incitement.

Rabbi Shapira, who was detained at the beginning of the month, wrote in his book, “When we encounter a gentile who has violated the Seven Laws of Noah and kill him out of concern for upholding the seven mitzvoth, no prohibition has been violated.”

According to the rabbi, “Anywhere where the presence of a gentile poses a threat to Israel, it is permissible to kill him, even if it is a righteous gentile who is not responsible for the threatening situation.”

Future report: “Israeli government subpoenas Hashem to answer charges of intolerance as evidenced in His books of Shemos, Vayikra, and Devarim. Also subpoenaed were Pinchas for hate crimes against adulterers and Eliyahu, Yeshayahu, and Yirmiyahu for spreading intolerance against idolators. All other Nevi’im currently under investigation.”

Your sarcasm isn’t funny since the government will track down and jail ANYONE who incites hatred and violence against our arab citizens, even if they claim they can find a basis for their incendiary rhetoric in daas torah. The basis for what they say is irrelevant in the current situation in EY where a spark can incite great bloodshed. These rabbonim are insane for throwing gasoline on a fire and should be kept locked in jail until they can control themselves.

    #1 ,

It’s sad to see a Jew who believes that our Torah is a work of hatred or of violence and not a work of peace and love, which is inherently inclusive and not exclusive.

We are the first nation to have a policy of offering peace before war. War is a disgusting thing which our Torah of love and peace declares will someday come to an end.

Rav Kook says that there is no place within our religion for hatred, and all of the places in our writings that would make you think otherwise are tests, and we should not learn them until we are ready to understand them in their true sense.

I believe the mitzvah of “mechias Amalek”, the genocidal destruction of Amalek, is an example of this. According to the Rambam, we are to offer peace to Amalek, and only if they do not accept it on our terms do we war with them.

We may not kill a non-Jew who has not kept the 7 mitzvos, except in a case of geirei toshav, in eretz Yisroel, under our own sovereign rule, and with a Sanhedrin.

Remember, most of the kinoi’im, the zealots, within Jewish history have caused terrible things to happen to us, with the exception of Pinchas and Eliahu.
It was the zealots who wanted to fight Rome..now we’re in exile

    ## truly, is that what your afraid, or its your cover up of what you think of the torah? from your posts all over its the latter..now this poster is dr jekyl..now lets hear from mr hyde(as i mentioned previously there’s 2 posters with signiture of ‘says’, one posts like a ben torah the other the opposite)

Rabbi Kahane HY’D was always saying they will start with him and if no one speaks up they will do to others. so it is time for a massive demonstration in Israel to stop the arrests of rabiis now. This is not about freedom of speach this is about freedom of torah.
