New York - Report: Ground Zero Mosque Investor Was Terror Contributor |
|
New York - A key financial backer of the proposed Islamic center near Ground Zero once contributed to a U.S.-designated terror group.
Egyptian-born businessman Hisham Elzanaty, who made what is described as a “significant investment” in the Ground Zero mosque project, contributed more than $6,000 in 1999 to the Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development, also known as HLF, tax records show.
The donations came two years before the federal government shut down HLF and designated it a terror group. Elzanaty’s attorney told MyFox New York that his client believed at the time that he was donating to an orphanage. Elzanaty did not respond to questions.
Federal investigators say the group was set up as a Texas-based charity, but in fact supported Hamas.
Ray Locker, managing director of The Investigative Project on Terrorism, told MyFox New York that even in 1999, news outlets reported on possible ties between HLF and terror organizations.
Five HLF leaders were convicted in 2008 of providing support to Hamas.

Yawn, anyone surprised?
The difference between us and them is that if you have a synagogue of a hundred members and 1 member is considered a terrorist supporter then the entire congregation will be labeled a terrorist supporter; but if you have a mosque with a hundred members and 99 of them are terrorist supporters, but one member is considered a moderate, then the entire mosque will be considered moderates.

Andrew Cuomo with the power to investigate will do nothing.
I hope the media makes this terrorist sympathizer's life more miserable than it already is!

Askupeh; without making any judgment on Elzanaty, I disagree with your premise. Not everybody who donated money to HLF, understood that this organization has ties with Hamas. Furthermore, some mistakenly but *sincerely* believe, that the money raised by HLF, will support only orphans. Please understand that I am not in any way insinuating that is ok to support organization like HLF, but that was two years before the federal government shut it down.
Finally as a Jew, we need to think hard, before we call on others to stop building there house of worship. My friend it is a slippery road. Therefore, I don’t have a choice but to support the right of people to build their house of worship, where they see fit.

The mosque will be built. Cuomo and Bloomberg will not see it happen, though. Too tragic to elaborate.

Where they see fit!
Agree. But why do they see fit to build it right then and there? Secondly who cares or needs your support? Just go back to your hiding place.
