Gainsville, FL - Koran Burning Pastor To Go Ahead Despite Petraeus' Warnings |

Pastor Terry Jones plans to hold a Koran burning to mark the September 11 terror attacks, despite warnings it would incite more violenceGainsville, FL - The pastor of a small Florida church said Tuesday he will go ahead with his plans to hold a Koran burning this week, despite warnings by the U.S. commander of the Afghan war of violent reactions in the Islamic world.
Terry Jones, who heads the Dove World Outreach Center in Gainesville, Fla., said he had given “serious” consideration to the concerns expressed by General David Petraeus over plans to torch a Koran to mark the ninth anniversary of the Sept. 11 terror attacks, but said he would proceed anyway.
“We are taking the general’s words very serious. We are continuing to pray about the action on September 11th,” he said.
But he said “we have firmly made up our mind” to go ahead with burning the Muslim holy book.
“Instead of us being blamed for what other people will do or might do, why don’t we send a warning to them?” he said. “Why don’t we send a warning to radical Islam and say, don’t do it. If you attack us, ... we will attack you.”
In a statement, Petraeus expressed concern that the planned torching of the Koran would be a propaganda coup for Islamic extremists.
But Jones said that the Koran torching Saturday aimed “to remember those who were brutally murdered on September 11th,” and to send a warning “to the radical element of Islam.”
“We wanted to send a very clear message to them that we are not interested in their Sharia law. And we do not tolerate their threats, their fear, their radicalness. We live in the United States.

This idiot will cause the deaths of American troops overseas and possbily trigger terrorist actions here in the U.S. He should be stopped at all costs. We can worry about his first amendment rights after the fact. Any yid who supports him will have blood on his/her hands the day before rosh hashana.

I guess mr bloomberg will have to support this jerk who calls himself pastor.
I'd like to know what the ground zero imam has to say about this burning the koran.
General petreus says that he shouldn't do it because it would put us troops in danger, but the islamic world doesn't say don't build the mask at ground zero because it could put muslims in danger, you know why? Because we are americans are not gonna kill anyone because of the mask, and we shouldn't, but just to show you how we are rewarding bad behavior.

This sounds to me very radical. I am not coming from the camp of the liberal mindset, but this seems to be the exact thing radical islam is all about. CH"V when he decides that he doesn't like something we do, he will have a "Burn a Torah Day" Chas V'chalillah. Is there a way he can be legally stopped? This is all aside from the muslim reaction that this will generate. Let's remember the arabs are capable of retaliation in a way that no one else can. Remember they do not value human life. They are wild animals in human disguise. Keep them at bay pastor.

#1 - Why would you expect the members of this peaceful religion to react violently?

Pastor Terry Jones is a provocateur; I think that he is hoping for a Muslim overreaction to his plan. If he goes through with what he has promised, he will cause riots throughout the Muslim world. It doesn't take much to provoke the Muslims. Several years ago, a Danish cartoonist mocked the prophet Muhammed with a nasty cartoon. There were riots in many countries, both in Europe and Asia.

Another religious goon who is inciting unnecessary violence and division between people. Gen Petraeus should agree to send the Taliban to this moron's church instead of endangering lives of our troops in retaliatory attack when this "pastor" burns korans for attention.

I disagree! The koran talks evil and hate towards other religions. It tells them to blow themselves up. All of you which keep the torah, are supposed to hate and kill amalek. Let's not hate Amalek b/c it may incite some of them to act in their animalistic way.. Are you afraid of retaliation? In case you haven't noticed there's a war going on against these beasts and they have no problem killing americans. The least we could do is stand up to evil by openly burning the book which supports it. Its not a religion! Just a reason to kill others they hate.

How many videos of lynchings, beheadings and burning of the American and Israeli flags (G-d forbid) does someone need to see before understanding the truth? There does not seem to be any room for religious pluralism in Islam any more.

He is burning Talmuds on 9/11 also. There is an interview clip where he says that the Jews are responsible for ruining America. It was in the Miami Herald today that he plans to burn the Talmuds.
I live in Florida and Jews here are afraid. There is no telling what will happen when people are out on Yom Tov walking to shul. I really do not want my children to find swastikas painted on the house like we did as children growing up in an Orthodox community in NJ. We are seeing a lot of swastikas and a lot of vandalism again.
