New York, NY – “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind” may have roots in reality — a Manhattan doctor says he can remove memories with touch.

Dr. Ronald Ruden, an Upper East Side internist, says he can erase the trauma associated with bad memories without surgery, talk therapy or drugs.
He uses a process dubbed “havening” that employs touch therapy to dissociate the emotions from a memory, erasing it or rendering it harmless.
For $200 per half-hour session, Ruden says he can quell a plethora of problems, including chronic pain, post-traumatic stress disorder and phobias.
His most common requests are to ease memories from early childhood and soured relationships, much like those in the Charlie Kaufman flick.
When a person is touched, there is an increase in seratonin and other chemicals that deactivate the receptors in the brain’s memory bank, Ruden claims. Once deactivated, emotion is severed from the memory.
Wow!!!
A fool and his money are soon parted. Caveat Emptor.
$200 for half an hour… when do we pay, before or after? The visit itself will be a bad memory. Any guarantees?
another balony makerony, & all tmimes’dig people will run after him like crazy, & swear by Paroi’s beard that he makes Oises V’mofsim…
Neurotics build castles in the sky. Psychotics live in them. Psychiatrists collect the rent….thats all i have to say!!!
Sure, I do this too, ill touch you and make you forget everything for $200 per half hour…………..
Does he have any succes stories 2 write home about or is this a new venture that this doc. Is embarking on?
I’m a doctor, I fix the bad memories with a smile and a tooth pick. They dont go away. Just fester in a holocaust denier’s fantasy land in your mind! Fix them with lights and make them work for shining sunshine of love! But that spotless mind wont work without a kleenex from Hashem! Baruch Hashem!
I’ll do it for half the amount!
QUACK QUACK QUACK
I had 20 sessions with him and it didn’t work. Then I was really upset about the $4,000 I had paid. So he told me to come back for another 20 sessions, and it worked – but now I don’t remember where my $8,000 went, which I had saved for the nicest lulav and esrog in town. I am so upset about the $8,000 perhaps I should go back to him and try to forget it.
If he could erase the memory from the mortgage company and from thr IRS, that would be a deal. Otherwise thanx but no thanx.
“it is too good to be true”. I think he is an hoax…there is no such thing as magic touch thing…

To quote PT Barnum: “There is a sucker born every minute.”
“He uses a process dubbed “havening” …For $200 per half-hour session…”
I use a process called dovening. Guaranteed to help almost everybody. Now, who is willing to pay me $200/half-hour?
I asked my psychology professor (a doctor) about the possibility of such a thing happening and he said that it sounds completely untrue, and that emotions are very much intertwined with memory. You can’t just separate the two with tactile stimulation.
