The car windows were likely smashed with a hard object such as a bat or hammer, Ramapo police said. No rocks or other objects were found within the glass inside the cars.

The car owners were attending religious services at one of the local synagogues for the Rosh Hashanah new year when the vandalism occurred. They were not praying at the main shul in the village used by the grand rabbi and others.

I am shocked that phisical violence transpired on grounds so far from urban areas.
If this is racial bias it should be procecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

Why do the police even waste their time (and tax dollars) trying to mediate between these meshugaaim. Just let them fight it out among themselves and impose as much pain and property damage on one another as possible so they might ultimately learn to live peacefully rather than continuing to act like a bunch of vilde chayos.

The police are not wasting their time investigating what are clearly crimes: that’s their job. The problem is that the community won’t help the police because of mesirah and, sadly, the Rabbonim appear to remain silent. Thus the behavior continues, is perpetuated, and becomes acceptable.

Maybe New Square isn’t aware of the Yomim Noraim or the meaning of Shalom Biais or chooses just to ignore it. A real Shanda.

If it was Chasidim who did it on Rosh Hashono, then I am totally shocked, and even if it wasn’t done on Rosh Hashono, but was done by a Yid against another Yid, then whoever did it must be sick in the head indeed. I can’t imagine a normal Jewish person doing this to another Jew any time and especially during the Yomim Noro-im.

Chayos hakodesh! Someone should institute a chumrah about breaking windows or put it in Reb Yehuda Ha-chosid’s Tzava-ah, then these chassidim might be careful about all the aveiros involved.

the sad fact is,that the former Soviet Union under Stalin, was a bastion of democracy compared to the stalinist dictatorship of New Square being run with an iron fist by the rebbe himself.
anyone starting his own shull and not praying with the rebbe in the one and only shull in new square should have expected this, and should be happy that only his car was bashed in,and not his head.

According to news accounts, this was done by someone within New Square who objected to some of the younger men going to a nursing home and davening with the residents. The younger men say they are doing a big mitzva helping the elderly and lonely people.

After seeing throughout the years all the fighting that took place in Kiryat Joel Monroe, we can only admire the previous Skvere Rebbe Ztz”l for his wise idea of not allowing other Shuls & congregations in his own private village, in order to prevent fighting & Machlokos.
As I understand it, he built that village strictly for those who want to follow his leadership & the costums of his forefathers. All others could live anywere abroad but in New Square.

If you live in New Square you do have to abide by the rules, but, I can’t imagine the Rebbe himself sanctioning such violence against another Yid.

Can someone explain the issue? Why can’t there be a Minyan in the nursing home?

You have to understand the mentality of the Rebbe. He does not want anyone to have a new minyan in or around New Square. He’s the only one who is allowed to run any ritual services in that area, and anyone who goes against his will is dealt with. This is not new, it’s happened several times.

In his defense, I do understand completely.
This is the way it was done in Europe, and in fact the Taz was once placed in jail for poskining on a chicken in a city that had a rav without consulting the rav first, although the rav had so much respect for the Taz after having heard the breadth of his Torah knowledge that he appointed him as the next rav.
R’ Yaakov Emden caused a lot of trouble to come upon himself for trying to question the authority of the rav of the Hamburg, Vansbek, Altona area, R’ Yehonasan Eybeschütz. As a result of his questioning the rav in public, he was allowed to have a minyan within his house, but only 10 men and only on shabbos.

Shlomo, I don’t agree with what the rebbe does, I am not a Skverer chussid, I don’t believe that rabbunim should have any grip on anyone at all, but that doesn’t change the fact that there are people who believe in this…this is the way things were in Europe!
If you don’t like it, don’t live in New Square, which happens to be my suggestion to all people in New Square! Leave and take back your lives! What, you need a babysitter to tell you what to do with yourself? The whole thing is silly. There’s a reason that Hashem took the Jews out of Europe and put them in America…he doesn’t want people to live like this.

Why is everybody yelling communism ! Is anybody being forced to live there ? If they can’t live up to the standards that were established by the skverer rebbe ztzl leave ! This village was made for people who want to live a different life style. I don’t live there because I don’t live that life , but the founding principals must be strictly enforced . And obviously the windows were smashed by a few bird brains

Those who don’t like Square should just leave?

You mean, now that they’ve been cut of from the world since they were born, been denied a secular education, can’t read or write English, can’t do basic math, have no job skills, haven’t a clue as to how they could function in a normal society, and haven’t a penny to their name — all thanks to the system that was forced upon them?

New Square was built by the previous Skverer Rebbe who invested millions of dollars to have a shtetel of only skverer chasidim. he made a rule that everyone should daven in one single shul. whoever is not happy with this rule, should please move out. its like someone coming into your own dining room and not obeying to your rules.

i heard that the skverer rebbe told the askunim a night before that they should talk to the people who davened in the home in a eidel way and explain them that its against the rule that the previous rebbe made. the rebbe was very upset with the crazy people who did such a crazy thing as smashing windows.

Hashem does not make the shidduch 40 days before conception. Look in the Rambam in the end of Shmonah Prakim…

Yes, it is true that Hashem wanted us to leave Europe and come to America before the ge’ulah, even R’ Chaim Volozin says this. The matzav in Europe was terrible! The rabbunim were all crooks, the rebbes were sending talmidim to beat up other rebbes, it was geferlech! now the only vestige of that lifestyle is in places like skver and monroe, zeystdich how they are! Hashem HATES this! This is the antithesis of the Torah!

and if you need to find a shidduch for your child, go to Yerushalayim, near the kosel you’ll see a man pouring water out of a jug, speak to him and go to his house for shabbos, you’ll meet a man at the shabbos table who will make an introduction, although I can’t tell what the names of the people will be, but you will see a siman. I don’t know what it is but you’ll know it when you see it.

Oh, and by the way, if you had no ability to foresee that, then you need to start studying more, you’re not even close to where you need to be…..

True that the village is just for those that abide by rules but that applies only to those who came there by choice. We are talking about a genteration that was born into the village….the children that dont belong, what is it their fault? How can kids move? Furthermore, a Rabbi cant make new rules every day and say if you dont like it move, people have their homes and families there.

#32 where did you get all this hogwash?..i mentioned it many times, the churben came because ..see divrei yoel vayoel moshe , see sukelner rebbe ztvk’l plus many holy tzaddikum (not dr. rabbiners)said, and i heard it myself from him in 1972,’because of the maskilim reform etc that made a chuben on klall yisroel which braught the midas hadin on us, the haskalah started in germany and the midas hadin started in germany’ (these were his words). the chafetz chaim warned on impending churben also because of same, i read it b’shem reb michol ber zt’l the same etc etc so dont come with your pea size brain and blame it on yidden shomrei torah. Your kind if, you can blame something on ehrlicher shomrei torah you do and if not you yell ‘who are we to judge’ .seems to me you have no elementary knowledge of the torah . parshes bechikosei, ki savo and thruout devorim ‘if you will abandon my statutes then ..see for yourself and thats what your kind, reform, maskilim, consevative etc etc did. good night and go back to sleep
